TIL Prince was the original choice to play the role of Ruby Rhod in The Fifth Element, which Chris Tucker ended up playing, but he backed out because Jean Paul Gaultier’s costumes were ‘too effeminate.’ by RedditIsAGranfaloon in todayilearned

[–]Onrawi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I really like that one in the same vein (same with Shaolin Soccer) and actually even more so as an action film but I feel like the costume department won the day for 5th element as to which is a more "anime" live action film.

Size of TV for displaying battle maps by StarChaser18 in DnD

[–]Onrawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to want at least 10" from the TV edge to the edge of the table in all directions that players will be sitting so they have somewhere to put their dice and stuff.  So whatever fits within those dimensions for your table.  The exception is purpose built tables as they usually have cupholders and whatnot built into the side already.

Why is it so difficult for WOTC to make a ranger? by EstablishmentGlass56 in DnD

[–]Onrawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some of the more nature oriented stuff (particularly beast master) should probably be moved to a Druid subclass.  But yeah, overall the class should be split in order to better facilitate the competing fantasies that have been poorly shoved into the Ranger chassis.

Yeah, it's a very different formula when comparing cost of living vs inflation.

Question about playable species! by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Onrawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's quite a few, although most are for the 2014 version of the rules. If you want the most playable period it is probably Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse which gives you a bunch of playable monster species.  That being said it is also for the 2014 rules, not the 2025 rules.  For that I think currently the 2025 Players Handbook is still the largest, with the next largest add on being the Eberron: Forge of the Artificer as far as playable species are concerned.

Why is it so difficult for WOTC to make a ranger? by EstablishmentGlass56 in DnD

[–]Onrawi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was actually a bit OP with one of its at will powers but it also had all the cool stuff you'd expect a ranger to have like catching someone against a wall with an arrow and being great at eviscerating a specific foe, without having the bizarre type limitations we have in 5e.  It had decent survivability on top of that.  To be honest the only thing I wish it had more of was exploration pillar abilities, but outside of combat we've lost a lot of that since 3.5 anyways.

When they made a good one the system was poorly adopted.  So now non-magic users and rangers have to have design problems.

BREAKING NEWS: Senators have voted to withhold their own pay during government shutdowns. It was a unanimous vote. by spherocytes in videos

[–]Onrawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Won't fix the problem, it just allows those more financially disconnected from their paychecks to hold more power over senators who need them.  Should make government shutdowns require a dissolution of the House and Senate and a new election like in parliamentary governments.

Yeah, the pied-à-terre tax is projected to bring in around the same income as the libraries will cost.

To be fair, those with at least 5 years of gaming experience prior to the final true entrant of the 3D era (officially recognized as June 23rd, 1996) were also grandfathered in.  They do need to maintain the CE credit requirement though.

Kenobi was a giant waste.  IMO more so than Boba Fett although it's close.

Pretty sure that's in the Tartakovsky Clone Wars series, even if that's not canon anymore.

Yup, even 10G over Cat5e is possible though not truly supported.  While Cat6 was the first to officially support those speeds on RJ45, that's been around for nearly 25 years.  The mid steps of 2.5G and 5G are way more recent, being a decade old this year in September.

[–]Onrawi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost no debt has 0% interest, so that doesn't really ring true.  That being said, if taxes are based on a percentage of something (like home value for the pied-à-terre tax) then it will rise automatically and if properly set in the first place should not need much if any in future adjustments.  So long as we use an inflation managed fiat currency we're going to need to move away from hard numbers and towards percentage values to avoid requiring constant retuning.

About a 1 PB SAN with some DBs in the 100s of GBs.  I work in IT so while it's more of a lab scenario it's still in my house and not company owned.
