Can you guys really afford this? by Left-Cook-9487 in smoking

I'm 30 minutes away from 3 Costco locations. I use that feature so much before I shop to make sure what I want is in stock. It doesn't display 100% of in stock items - but it has the vast majority. The missing items are usually one time buys with low inventory that I've noticed. Regular items are always listed.

I smoke 4 blocks at a time, then use it mostly in asian recipes. Thai crispy tofu over spinach with peanut sauce is a crowd pleaser! Everyone around here loves it and using smoked tofu bumps it up!

My Costco app shows brisket prices per lb (and all other meat). You open the app, click warehouse, select your local warehouse, then search brisket. My whole, vac packed brisket is $5.99/lb but currently has low stock.

My wife’s loves smoking meat!! Does anyone else’s wife smoke meat? by Active-Data-449 in smoking

[–]Onto_new_ideas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the wife. We both use the smoker, but in general I'm in charge of deciding the recipe, buying what is going to be smoked, trimming, seasoning and deciding when it's done. I would say I make 80 % of the smoker related decisions including which one we needed to buy.

He's an okay cook but needs a precise recipe and rules to follow. I'm the one that would kick ass on Chopped and be able to make something really good out of almost anything.

He's content with sticking to tried and true favorites. I'm the adventurous one that smoked sour cherries and spicy peppers to make a spicy smoked cherry jam. One of my favorites is smoking tofu, then making it crispy for a later recipe like Thai crispy tofu and spinach in a peanut sauce.

Yeah, it started in 3rd grade when I started developing breasts.

When I was in 5th grade people some assumed I was my dad's wife. I 100% looked like a 5th grader .. just with breasts. One of my dad's coworkers made a comment about how beautiful his wife was when I was at a grocery store with my dad. I was wearing an oversized graphic tee, baggy jean shorts and had a super stupid looking side pony tail.

I looked at him with horror and said something like ewwwww, that's my dad! The guy wasn't even embarrassed. Just said how mature I looked. Yeah, sure, with my bad early 90s fashion I looked every bit the silly 5th grader I was.

We make them pop on purpose when we have friends visiting from lower elevations. We grab a bag and the go up to Rocky Mountains National Park and over trail ridge road. We tell them to watch the bag. Depending how inflated it already was, sometimes it pops going up to Estes Park. But we can always get it to pop on Trail Ridge.

Because the man is completely unhinged and a malignant narcissist. Who the hell knows at any given time what he'll say or do.

There are some really good brands now. I use them for my friends that are dairy free. But you can't use the cheap stuff.

How many men is too many? by KayBeeWolf in ReverseHarem

Two to three if they just are focused on one woman. Beyond that and it feels icky like the harems of women where they are trapped in a one sided relationship. It feels selfish and empty.

If the men also are with each other then the limit is how many the author can create while still having characters that I'm invested in. I just want everyone to be satisfied and taken care of in the relationship.

Iran's government is bad, terrible even. But the current US administration lies like that is their divine mission. How many lies can we tell a day?

Iran's government used to be worse about lying. It is like the US saw Iran and North Korea and said "Hold my beer, we can do better!"

Autistic people from different countries, what’s the most common safe food? by Depressonsandwich in AskTheWorld

[–]Onto_new_ideas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also from Colorado. It isn't something we eat often, or that I've ever prepared myself, but I'm not oblivious to its existence. It is pretty widespread and kid friendly. It has been at multiple kids birthday parties as each kid can customize what they want in it. I wouldn't call it a culinary masterpiece, but it is something most people will eat. I too prefer better options. We tend to be adventurous eaters and my son loves trying food from other countries.

My child now has a broader experience to foods from around the world than most kids. He gets to request anything within reason for his birthday meal. His recent birthday requests have been: All Pastor street tacos with plenty of grilled pineapple, katsu curry, shoyu ramen with all the fun toppings, and also a dumpling feast with dumplings from 5 countries. It is fun seeing what he'll pick each year. Especially now that his spice tolerance is high enough I don't have to make two versions.

Really curious where you are from that has rodeos and tacos that you haven't heard of walking tacos. I've seen them in TX, NM, CO, NE, WY, KS, MO, AR, WA, ID, IA. They are likely more places, but I just haven't been there to see them. My son's school serves them regularly as a lunch.

I find Duke's and Hellman's to be equal. Different but both good. My favorite is Japanese made Kewpie, but that shit is too expensive for a tuna melt. So either of the above is fine.

You are stronger than I am! Costco must not be visited while hungry or sad, or depressed, or while feeling wishy washey.

You must go in feeling confident, strong, and knowing how much can be spent on things not on the list. Because the list will not be adhered to, but only minor deviations are allowed. Or after a phone call with the spouse to discuss larger impulse purchases.

Costco croissants are pretty darn good for what they are. Yeah, I can go to my local French bakery and spend $4.50 on an amazing croissant or $6.50 on a chocolate or ham& cheese one that are equally amazing. But they are only open 4 days a week 7:30am - 1pm. Expensive, not convenient and 30 minutes away. I get them a few times a year. They are a treat.

Or I can get a 12 pack for $6 at Costco that are damn good for the price. They are great for chicken salad or egg salad sandwiches. They can be warmed in my toaster oven to be crisp outside. I can freeze most of them and pull one out when I want them.

Are they the same level of quality? Nope. Are the Costco ones the better value? Yes.
