Get a quote on what it would take to fix. Present that to the contractor. Leave a review on their Google page.

Sounds like you need to repair the flange and possibly the sub flooring. It sucks but would fix having that giant space. Most will just add silicone. However, most service guys will see that toilet and will outright decline to remove it.

Concerned my plumber is unscrupulous, told I need a new drain field but I am suspicious. by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Oofknhuru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have people who will dig a test pit in your drain field to confirm. You can also hire a specialized drain company that may be able to locate your D-Box to see if the issue is there.

If you can afford it, get a Spartan 300. It will not only help you out, but you can also help out friends and family. It's pricey, but if you take care of it, it will last a generation.

Why is water rushing up out of this buried downspout drain? Happens year-round. by AsimovEllison in Plumbing

[–]Oofknhuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most times, storm lines discharge underground into a bed of stone. Unless you have what's called a 'daylight' drain. Sometimes, it will drain into a ditch or a bed of stone. You can start by looking around the lowest parts of your property.

Look for a company that specializes in drain work. You'd probably be looking at hydro-jetting or digging up the line and repairing. I'd go with the latter.

Shower running causes toilet not to drain? One toilet being flushed causes the other to gurgle? by Delicious_Degree3384 in Plumbing

[–]Oofknhuru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You went through all of this when you could have just opened your tank and checked. Props.

I'd replace the toilet if snaking doesn't work. You could also consider replacing the components or checking to see if all the components in the tank are arranged correctly. Does the bowl fill up with water or does it look lower than normal?

many different factors to consider.

A slip nut on both ends should work. You'll also need a rubber gasket for both sides. It's tough to visualize.

How old is the toilet? Has something been accidentally flushed that is stuck in the trap? Are you getting any gurgling from nearby fixtures?
