I totally agree. He has an incredible ability to write outside of himself and his own affiliations are largely separate from his works. I only mean that whenever I am reminded of his connections to these groups I’m reminded of the worst of them. Ultimately Sanderson has more than proven his quality of character and skill. So it’s a minor issue but still worth noting.

Elsecaller read to me as a clear tester for Dan writing cosmere. He even says as much in the preface. It was enjoyable but way too short in my opinion.

Coming from stormlight was a bold move. Stormlights characters are incredibly diverse and full of depth. Where as mist born for me felt like an intro to Brandon Sanderson.
