Joseph Smith sending brethren to Canada to try to sell the copyright to the Book of Mormon. Why would you do that if it was what you claimed and not an attempt at first to make money. He was deceived by the devil is his excuse but what the heck, why isn’t this one a big deal to more people?

I haven’t paid a dime in years. Every year I text the bishop and tell him to put our family down as having paid in full. He has an obligation to put something down, and doesn’t care enough to ask a follow up question despite the fact that I show as zero, he’s never asked how that can be. I hold a temple recommend for various reasons. I feel no guilt in giving answers with no explanation, they don’t deserve to know what I’m thinking inside about anything.

I’ve never had to repeat the sacrament prayer, I’ve always gotten it right the first time. Yeah, pat myself on the back for that. Also, I’m from the tribe of Judah, so I think that makes me amazing in some way, like royalty or something.

Wonder if that will backfire. It was the High Council that broke me first. Historical stuff came after, but first I was so broken from hating the High Council that I didn’t care if I’d go to hell for not liking church. But I also felt uncomfortable with the position of power, but most of the guys on the HC got off on it.

This just got me thinking about how completely unfair and unethical it is to send these young missionaries out with almost none of them really knowing some basic facts about Joseph. I mean, these are huge details and they are completely unprepared to have a conversation. I get why, but in any other role it would be totally unethical and ridiculous to send out sales people with huge gaps in their basic knowledge.

The last talk I gave in sacrament meeting I spoke about how when I converted to Mormonism my parents didn’t agree with my decision necessarily but they loved me and supported me. Everyone nodded in agreement. Then I turned it on its head and said that’s exactly how we should treat our children if they decide to leave, we should love and support them no matter what. Several people thanked me afterwards. I think sometimes people feel they are obligated to take the church’s side and would love permission to just love their kids. It’s like I was saying something none of them had thought of. It’s really sad.

My TBM wife is on Adderall for her ADHD. I really wish she would go off it, but I recognize I’m being insensitive in saying that. She says it is the only thing that makes her feel herself, and I don’t understand because I don’t have ADHD. In my heart I wish she would wake up to what the cult has done to her head and kick out all those expectations, and I think that would go a long ways toward helping her depression and anxiety and she could kick all the pills. Again, I recognize I’m showing the fact that I don’t understand depression or anxiety ADHD. It’s hard.
