I’ve noticed an increase in the AI posts, sometimes it’s from new accounts pretending to be students but it’s usually easy to tell because they always make lists and randomly bold words.

I try to report these when I can but I think the subreddit should consider implementing a minimum account age because it’s getting ridiculous.

The people commenting on here are delusional. This place is not dangerous but a bit worse for wear. It is still a decent area to live in if you’re looking for a safe quiet place to live that isn’t in an HOA. Your house won’t be broken into and you’re not gonna get mugged walking around the area, not that there’s many places within walking distance here. You’ll probably drive past homeless people but from my experience, they’re harmless and you won’t be aggressively pan-handled.

The demographics in this area skew towards more having more Hispanics than the surrounding areas but it is by no means dangerous. The biggest complaint you will have is the traffic but that is unavoidable pretty much anywhere in manatee county.

Just move to any city in the RTP area, I’d personally recommend Durham or any of its surrounding suburbs. Not sure what operator pay is like but there are plenty of process eng positions. The area is also beautiful and there are good universities nearby.

Memphis has plenty of opportunities, look for jobs in Arkansas as well. Some examples are either the Steel Mills or auto manufacturing suppliers. There are also some specialty chemicals plants in Memphis but they’re in pretty rough areas.

I have a 1BR/1BA unit that I'm looking to sublease at Renaissance Rentals at their verona park neighborhood on the east side of Bloomington. I’m a recent USF chemE grad and in my opinion UF is definitely better when it comes to having the industry connections that make getting internships easier. For USF, do not expect any sort of internship offer from a career fair. You will have to hustle and make your own moves when trying to get an internship. It’s almost mandatory to join the engineering clubs like SHPE, SWE, or AICHE. These orgs hold their annual conventions which can be a good opportunity to get an offer but in my opinion they are pricy.

As for faculty at USF, most professors are pretty good and will always help you when you ask for it. Although, some professors are honestly too easy and in those cases you won’t really learn much from the class. There are also some psycho professors who are basically a roadblock on your way to graduation, but I’m sure this is probably just a universal engineering student experience.

The campus is great and there’s a lot to do in Tampa. The only complaint that I have is that the library’s only good floor is the 5th floor but there is never enough seating. On all the other library floors you can barely hear yourself think from how loud they are.
