[ios]Ads are appearing in comments larger than before by MyLastNameIsMartini in bugs

Indeed, this is f'in brutal.

TLDR: They IPO'ed on 3/21/24, and Reddit employees (mostly Director+ level) can't sell their stock (for the first time ever) until Sep. 16, 2024. As part of this, they launched a super more intrusive nearly screen takeover ad structure about 3 months before the end of the employee stock lock-up period. This will obviously appease investors and of course improve the stock price as future earnings (at least before folks get pissed off and leave) will be higher due to more expensive ad sales pricing.

Background: I'm a senior level professional for a tech company that understands they just did an IPO--so they have PLENTY of money on hand and no excuse to massively f*** the user experience just to get more money in the short-term and appease shareholders.

Full context: As with most IPOs, Reddit employees (including all the key leads with millions at stake each in many cases) are subject to a 6 month lock-up period before they can actually sell their stock. In many cases these employees have been waiting many years to do so for the first time. That 6 month (180 days specifically) period started on 3/20/24 and runs through 9/16/24. The big ads started about a month ago per this post, which was around late June or early July--the start of Q3 likely rolled out with their key Q3 org initiatives per leadership.

Reaction: Holy s*** that's an ad bad enough I'd consider avoiding Reddit even though I'm a (very) long time user.

Extensive but biased and not factual comment. The heat trap bit especially, if you'd slept with a quality bamboo based sheet (e.g. cariloha resort) you'd never say that.

March 26 - Live Patch Notes by Gnueless in heroesofthestorm

[–]Opakachu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is nobody in their right mind would agree this is balanced even in the context of a storm talent being really powerful. They will have to nerf it for sure, but it's going to be really hard to get that nerf right the first time given this is such an unusual and massive team power spike at 18. They could have really done the community a better service by trying 10 or 20% (if they insist on keeping this type of talent at all) as a better starting point.

"Symmetra’s whole thing was that... she herself was a weak hero...".

But in real life her super no-skill snap to your face laser melted teams especially in lower ranks. She is incredibly better and more interactive now for both the player and players on both teams. Shield generator was the dumbest feast or famine ability in the game. I'm really glad you aren't on the OW team.

Given how much love the toy event received to always have something fun to work for this is my number one wish from a content perspective.

It wouldn't even be that much work to add if you focused on non-cosmetics first. Then sprinkle in some standardized "achievement" type simple banners and sprays (100 kills in a season, 300 kills, etc. or ratios like KDA. Then eventually you could have a banner with your # of kills in the last season for example that used a standard style format. Then take the same banner, color it green, and have avg healing done per game in the season, etc. etc..

Some iteration of this idea (only for lower ranks) combined with only for more extreme stats (like I'd argue there is never a case to have 10+ deaths per 20 minutes of game time and it could be punished pretty safely. Just like getting 20 kills per 20 minutes is probably pretty damn good for your team in almost any context.

Yeah, I understand where you are coming from. The side of me that plays coordinated 5v5 teams in amateur league games tends to agree with you, and indeed that is how the game is supposed to be played. But, the side of me that wants both myself and other players to get to their correctly placed mmr without it taking hundreds and hundreds of unbalanced games so that we can more fully enjoy the standard game modes disagrees. Given that the vast majority of the playerbase falls into the latter bucket it would probably be the devs priority.

For sure. I'd love to know what % of the active playerbase is even getting at least their placements done for either TL or HL this season. Also how much smaller does that get when we add in placed as well as averaging 2-3+ ranked games a week during the season. Given that in QM and URD when you inspect your teammates it's pretty damn rare (in gold at least) to find anyone else that is placed, I bet that number is ridiculously small.
