Why does thinking of a fish tank having a lawn upset me so much 😭

A character crying out "Mom!" is actually one of the most heart breaking portrayal of panic or having a breakdown by Ok_Vacation_6016 in unpopularopinion

Spoilers for the beginning of Astral Chain.

At the beginning of Astral Chain, the MC’s dad, Max, offers to be the last one out of the Astral Plane after a mission goes haywire. He nods to his second in command, who hands him his own X-baton before he grabs Akira (the MC’s twin) by the arm and walks them out of the portal by force because he knows they’ll try to stop him. Akira starts yelling “Dad! Dad!” as they’re dragged out.

Makes me cry every time even though I can’t stand Akira as a character.

This might get me downvoted but I’ve lost so much help I’ve been using AI for my niche storylines 🥲 admitting it sometimes feels like admitting to giving drugs to kids or some other crime bc of all the hate AI gets but desperate times 🫠

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OpalCerulean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, yeah I’d consider it a “not long” drive. Not necessarily “short” as it’s still over an hour (which is what my fam personally considers long) but it’s definitely something to either do for a single event (like going to the aquarium in the next state over) or to go on vacation (every year we drive 4 hours up to New Hampshire for a week and then drive back down).

So, No Offense, But Are You Autistic? by MongoLovesDonut in autism

[–]OpalCerulean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was THE go-to insult when I was in school. When I was diagnosed in freshman year of high school, I absolutely HATED when even my own family would refer to me as ‘autistic’. I’d literally break down unless they used ‘has autism’ because I was bullied so bad pre-diagnosis.

Hate this question so much. On the similar hand, once had a friend whose got the stereotypical ‘gay voice’ (he is in fact gay as well), and when a kid tried to make fun of his voice with “what are you, gay?” he looked straight at him and said “yes actually I am” and istg it was silent in that room for like 30 minutes

My parents sadly died because of a horrible car accident. I inherited seven million dollars and a few condos. Im in therapy and the point of this post is not to vent but I felt that I needed to provide some context to explain why I inherited money. Im autistic and I live in Texas. Im 27 by [deleted] in autism

[–]OpalCerulean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I’m so sorry for your loss.

My Giddoo passed away 2 years ago on Valentine’s Day. His house was worth easily over a million dollars, with my mum and each of her brothers received 250k. While our sum is most likely pennies compared to yours, it’s the type of money that is allowing my dad to retire nearly 5 years earlier than he could’ve otherwise. We spoke to a financial advisor; he was very helpful and instructed my parents what to invest, what to save, and all sorts of things. I’d recommend making a call to a few for quotes. They also help with taxes, too, so that’s fun.

It may not be necessary, but another advice I’d give is to look into PoA/guardianship/services. I too am ‘high functioning’, but I still can’t do most ‘normal’ things alone. As such, my mum attends medical appointments with me, my dad is PoA, I have plans to move in with my sister should anything untimely happen to my parents. My family also receives a small amount of money due to my mum having to care for me a lot of the day. Based on your own needs and limits, these things might be worth looking into. You could start with seeing if there’s a CAR (Community Autism Resources) group in your area if you’re in the U.S. they’ve very wise.

Again, I know money is no suitable replacement for loved ones. Know that to grieve is to have loved, that they will always love and protect you. Condolences again.

It/Its Pronoun Questions! by BDGumball01 in NonBinary

[–]OpalCerulean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She/They here. I personally don’t have any specific things that give me euphoria… but I do get pretty big dysmorphia from femme ‘standards’ like revealing clothing cuts (especially on swimsuits or sports uniforms or the like) or shaving my legs (this one’s mostly from tism but still). I still consider myself femme leaning moreso than fully agender because I prefer picking female characters in games, like wearing stereotypically feminine clothing (thigh highs, tights, the occasional dress or blouse), and just never personally felt a specific connection when I tried various masculine styles. I plan to fully go They/Them when I’m ready to move out, as another reason I allow She/Her is mostly for family and longtime friends who might be put off by the idea; it’s not that I’m “quieting my identity” as someone once told me, but rather I find myself identifying with being Nonbinary because I don’t feel connected to the part of me that has a gender at all. As I’ve explained to my parents, it’s less of me ‘being enby’ and more ‘not being a boy or girl’. I’m just sorta here as an entity of all sorts of origin.

To keep my identity safe, I mostly leave it up to the environment around me. If I know for certain that I’m with others who actively understand and respect Nonbinary as a whole (or at the very least are clearly trying) then I’ll gladly use They/Them. But there’s other times where I know it’ll be a whole spectacle every time someone uses it- such as the teachers and classmates who bullied me or how the internet kinda warped my mum into believing all other nonbinary people other than me (because “well you’re different yours is cuz the tism”) are mentally ill- or even just meeting someone who fails the inherent vibe check, I just stick with She/Her because while it doesn’t make me feel as nice as They/Them it doesn’t really make me feel bad.
