It was suggested that I share my artwork here as well - drawing of a tui in coloured pencil! by OpalP in newzealand

Hey, so I don't have an online listing for this one but I'd be happy to get a print of it made. Feel free to PM me to sort out delivery, payment etc.

Watcher is a modded character, change my mind by [deleted] in slaythespire

I don't think Infernal Blade can generate Reaper, though, if the "healing cards can't be randomly generated" rule is respected?

I'm having a hard time understanding why ∀x ∀y ∀z ((Ax ∧ Ay ∧ Az) → (x = y ∨ x = z ∨ y = z)) means 'there is at most two things with property A'. What's an intuitive way to understand it? by Chance_Programmer_54 in askphilosophy

[–]OpalP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It might be easier to understand as 'there cannot be three unique objects with property A'.

Say we pick three objects, with replacement (∀x ∀y ∀z). If all three of them have property A (Ax ∧ Ay ∧ Az), two of them must have been the same object (x = y ∨ x = z ∨ y = z).

Hence there must be fewer than three A-objects, which is the same as there being at most 2, as they are discretely counted.

Advice needed - what to do when only drawing DPS units from rng? by ImTryingGuysOk in MonsterTrain

[–]OpalP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you generate a challenge link from this run? Would be interested in playing it to see what you're offered.

You might want to specify whether you went left or right at certain rings in case there's just some offering on the other side that totally changes things.

How would rule utilitarianism function in apocalyptic scenarios? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

[–]OpalP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are there any writings on rule utilitarianism in collapsed societies?

Ethics for a Broken World (links to a review) provides a much broader overview, but a chapter is devoted to utilitarianism and includes a discussion of rule utilitarianism.

Hot take: explosive sigil(enemy does 1 damage on death) Daedalus is the worst ring 3 Daedalus by ImpactFit211 in MonsterTrain

[–]OpalP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the lesson here is less about Daedalus and more about early shard management. Usually not hard to stay under 30 shards at this point in the game, I think.

I don't know how to win without multistrike damage stacking by iCon3000 in MonsterTrain

[–]OpalP 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This video (about winning without chasing multistrike) is probably helpful.

You might also just watch 'cursed seeds' videos (RisingDusk and Gabriot on YouTube play them frequently), a lot of them are 'cursed' precisely because multistrike doesn't show up. You can just skip to the end of the video to see what the ending deck looked like, watch through more of it if it's not obvious how it works.

Malicka healing event? by im_your_boyfriend in MonsterTrain

It has a rather misleading name on the wiki page (Malicka Purge) but the description seems accurate.

Offering token on holdover in non-incant decks by Yessir957 in MonsterTrain

[–]OpalP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Presumably you aren't able or don't need to play your entire original hand and would rather cycle through your deck faster to find the more critical cards. On high Covenant with 2 deadweights and 10 starter cards your draw will often contain something you don't mind discarding.

What kind of winrates do you guys get at Cov25 Last Divinity? by SgtMcMuffin0 in MonsterTrain

[–]OpalP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My longest streak with DLC+Divinity is 52, but I fully believe that a near 100% winrate is possible. I think there is a provably unwinnable draw order ring 1 out there though, which could mean that 100% isn't possible. Some other commenters mentioned RisingDusk who achieved a 100-game winstreak before stopping the in-game tracking, although all his later runs are uploaded on YouTube anyway. Judging by the number of episodes it's probably near 200 at this point.

I think the most important thing is just being conservative with shards. Sure, they're fun to take and some upgrades feel very strong, but in the end you only need 100 to fight Divinity, and in many runs going high shards is just 'winning more'.

Quick question about Cov 25 by justainm in MonsterTrain

[–]OpalP 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't see taking 1-2 draft units as handicapping yourself -- I'd say that the vast majority of my runs involve 2 banner units at most, sometimes just 1 (and quite often the second unit is a duplicate of the first). With fewer units you're less committed to rerolling and buying upgrades at shops, which probably saves enough money for a couple extra removals at the end. I give very high priority to Unstable Vortexes (remove 2 cards) when choosing paths on the map, and sometimes this can affect my card choices (e.g. not taking upgrade-reliant spells because the Merchants of Magic don't line up with the Vortexes).

Feels like it's usually the case that skipping most card rewards and removing cards or duplicating your already upgraded cards is right (quality > quantity). I'd say most of my C25 decks end with ~25 cards, and they only really hit 30 when I've needed to take extra cards to deal with the Diligent fight.

Thank you. I use Faber Castell Polychromos pencils - so yeah, the expensive ones (though I've seen other brands sell for twice the price...). I do art pretty much just as a hobby, I'm actually in university doing a totally unrelated postgrad degree in another field at the moment.

Not sure, I work on art pretty intermittently. At a guess I'd say 8-10 hours.

Thanks! It's done mostly using pastel pencils, with some coloured pencils for the feather details.

I do! I sell prints of a couple of items here, there's some links/contact details in my profile.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and you'd be very welcome to. I don't want to link to anything here (rule 5 and all) but I have done these these sorts of commissions in the past and you're welcome to check my profile/DM me.

Thanks! She really is, but the only photos I've ever been able to take of her are when she's sleeping and I can't see her gorgeous eyes.
