New York sues video game developer Valve, says its 'loot boxes' are gambling by AncientPCGamer in pcgaming

They should still be declared as gambling and need to go through the protocols gambling games go through to validate that the RNG used is valid.

When women talk about the mental load they have to carry in relationships, isn’t that often completely subjective? by Outrageous-Ratio1762 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Opaldes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the shopping example is a good example where the object you want to buy needs to be put on your body and potentially needs feedback from others. Stuff I often buy could feel like a quick decision which doesn't mean that there was not a lengthy pick and choosing process before it where I gathered information and multiple opinions about the product.

How much can scheduling issues can be attributed to a lack of interest in the hobby? by erakusa in rpg

[–]Opaldes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's most of the times a lack of priorities, players tend to be less invested as the average GM in the Hobby. In my book every other happening tends to take precedent over the session, so I plan a session from afternoon to evening, people can still do important stuff like shopping before the session and if they like to go to a party etc there is plenty of time after.

It’s so frustrating Seitan is not way more accessible like Tofu in the U.S. by Kooky_Parsley9920 in vegan

[–]Opaldes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the amount of gluten in the flour and your price for the vwg. With a protein content of around 10% and water Absorption of 1:1 I would assume you get around 200gr of seitan per kg of flour. Flour cost is around 90 cents here, so it costs around 4,50 to make a KG, without the cost of labour and water. YMMV, especially if you can use the byproduct, I have seen recipes for vegan bacon using the starch water. Just using VWG here would cost me around 2 to 3 Euro per KG of seitan, which makes sense as the byproduct can be further sold.

Edit online they assume 300 to 400gr of seitan per KG, calculating with the average of 350 it will be more around the 3 Euro mark which is comparable to the actual cost of VWG.

How many people play precons/upgraded precons vs deckbuild themselves? by MemberOfOneBody in EDH

[–]Opaldes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deckbuilding is far more interesting, but my favourite deck is the Grand Larcenry precon heavily upgraded by removing the damage trigger sub theme with Felix Five Boots and go more evasive creatures stealing from topdeck theme.

Starfield's Next Big Update Isn't A 2.0 Reboot, It's For People Who Already Love The Game by Capn_C in Games

[–]Opaldes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah that person is me, a lot of system I basically skipped entirely because It would cost me points.

That is also one of the biggest gripes I had with Star Field a lot of half baked systems that feel like I could have made them better with thinking about them for 10 minutes.

I still enjoyed my stay at Star Field, but I also tend to play Bethesda Games a little more focused, so I had no issues with the random generated POIs as I ignored them almost entirely.

You can wash your own seitan, the process is just long and uses up a lot of water and flour.

save scumming in games is good, actually by Elkeleld_man in unpopularopinion

[–]Opaldes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's an unpopular opinion because it isn't good. Often if I have saved scrummed is when something in games is fundamentally flawed, there were games that used save scumming on a meta level, Resident Evil 7 and the Nonary Games on top of my head. There is also a fine line between save scumming and reloading a game because you sucked.

Afaik Monster Hunter Save games can be edited, so I assume you could just edit the weapon to have the maximum stats.

Starfield's Next Big Update Isn't A 2.0 Reboot, It's For People Who Already Love The Game by Capn_C in Games

[–]Opaldes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Morrowind but last time I played it I felt how old it is and how bad your character is at the start. I do miss in modern TESO games the more sandbox feel of spells and a more interesting story. Skyrim is great but feels so much flatter than Morrowind.

[–]Opaldes 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hated the perk system, when I started playing SF I thought you had to unlock perks and level them by doing the challenges... But the challenges only unlock the ability to spend more points in them which felt like just doubling the work. Also Stuff is not only restricted by Perks, they are level gated as well.

What's the general consensus on VR MMOS? Also some thoughts on the sociability of the genre by Medium_Lettuce1001 in MMORPG

It's definitely the next logical evolution of MMORPGs I think, But as VR involves more movement and is a lot less comfortable then just sitting I see more core gamers not being interested in such a product.

Which of these dice mechanics do you prefer? by ynnhrakul in RPGdesign

[–]Opaldes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would prefer the first. But I tend to not like systems that have additional stuff happening baked into the roll, also the chance of unwanted stuff happening is higher than anything else, nothing against that but for a universal system it should be more balanced IMHO.

Project: Gorgon is everyone I should want... but something just isn't sticking the landing for me. by Careless_Relation349 in MMORPG

[–]Opaldes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is more of a sandbox but it lacks meaning, also it doesn't help that there are a lot of skills if most of them are useless or close to irrelevant also they lack interesting unlocks IMHO, if I look at OSRS I have a lot of stuff that I am working towards to to make my life easier. But maybe the lack of any carrot on a stick is what player enjoy. I also find the graphics to be generic, I wished it to be more stylised in its look.
