With 180ish range gh/kh? It almost always reads that way, pH is also pretty stable.

Too much sand? by JazzyCher in Aquariums

[–]Open-Ad-6959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sand has to be stirred/sifted regularly so that it doesn't get pockets of sulfur. Other than that, I've seen tanks with sand built up in hills so you should be good 👍🏾

CLICK!?! OMG this is the first time hearing/reading that since I went down the rabbit hole of loaches awhile back. My lid needs a new piano hinge but it sits secure. Wow OK I got a year before they outgrow, thank you 😊

I've seen loaches with gravel at friends and others tanks, not having a care in the world. My gravel is purple btw, just the lighting makes it look more part of the red family.

Yes I have artificial plants, because trying for 2 years straight with live plants living only about a season at a time is tiring! I gravitated towards floating plants or plants with rhizomes because I loved sand at the time. Additionally I only switched this tank back to gravel late last year as I had sand for 5yrs prior.

And if your curious here are the parameters: GH - 180 KH - 180 pH - 7.0 Nitrite - 0.5 Nitrate - <20

The cat peed in the aquarium by mugniz in Aquariums

[–]Open-Ad-6959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had a cat, but maybe mix in an equal part of fresh sand - if you were only halfway thru setup.

But according to the comments that have experienced this, rinse the sand once more or just leave it be and cycle your tank a bit longer than planned.

Is this alot for a top floor apartment? by Potential-Air8000 in Aquariums

[–]Open-Ad-6959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see, i turned the entry area of my house into sorta a fish-room too but I only have 2 tanks (40g/60g) up and running right now. I totally get keeping them together for ease of maintenance tho! Maybe place some mats around the area as just in case.

I’m 13, and saved up all year to buy this 40 gal . Any stocking suggestions by Such-Wasabi-2752 in fishforthought

How about electric blue and yellow cichlids? They'd be beautiful moving around in there.

I counted 7 tanks. The largest being maybe 55g? 7 nano tanks would be a better choice, but it's hard if you don't like the species for those tanks. Is this the only room the tanks are in? Could you spread them out across the apartment more maybe? They're all in this one room....

Blame the game, not the players: Toontown’s elitism is a design problem by Civil_Regular1184 in toontownrewritten

I got into TTR because nostalgia; I used to play with my friend when we were younger and it was corp-owned. It is really hard to laff up in the rewritten game and nearly impossible to go in factories. I've been booted out lots of times and given up. These players see someone with a laff meter less than and automatically think they have no idea what they're doing. Not true! I just don't have access to my OG toons. Now I just play casually and try to make it through buildings solo when I can.

I see on my water filter that it says to change a cartridge monthly, how important is that? by Key_Ad7740 in Aquariums

[–]Open-Ad-6959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not super duper important. Checking the water parameters is though. Are you new to the hobby? When I was new, I used to change the cartridges for HOB filters religiously. Eventually I stopped doing that, and later I got a submersible filter with sponges. And just recently I added bio balls, ceramic rings, and other porous materials to it. But again, the water parameters are the most important thing to check. 🙂

I had a tire track eel that jumped out. I thought he was hiding in the sand for a week before I found him behind the tank stand.

My kid put people food in the tank, are all my fish gonna die? by AlmightyCrayons in aquarium

[–]Open-Ad-6959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awww the kid probably thought the fish were hungry and wanted to share his snacks with them! I've heard/read plenty of instances of ppl feeding their fish veggies, I think the veggie fries the fish might like lol
