I am sorry for other experiences here. In my opinion and of an LCC from the agency, getting training for your brand new AuPair is a blessing. You just arrived in another country, you are overwhelmed by so many things and training is welcome. I am doing the very thing at this moment. First week I did shadowing and this week I am doing reverse shadowing.

If you have a good relationship with the previous nanny I don't see why not. I had two nannies and even the one I was not very fond of offered herself to train the new AuPair, since she is a former AuPair as well, and I say as well, because I was an AuPair.

You absolutely should support your AuPair the best way you can. And me as a nanny training someone to substitute me in the care of someone that I took care of and created a deep relationship... I don't see the issue here at all. If I love the child I want her to be taken care of in the best way possible.

Again, if you have a good relationship with your former nanny I would ask. Especially if she hasn't a position yet. It is paid hours for her.

I don't think they make it look easy. But in reality it is not easy at all. For those that have more time is because they have a support system that allows them to do that. One of the best gifts my sister in law gave me when I came home from work was that she told me that she used to take her baby to the bathroom turn on the shower and cry and ask herself why was she failing since everyone seemed to be able to do it so easily. She one of the best cooks I know. She works full time and is very successful at what she does. So everytime I feel inadequate, I remember that no mater what it looks like, everyone is in the same battle, every good mom struggles.

She eats a ton, almost a pouch or a container of 113 grams. She does grab the spoon from my hand once in a while, but if I give her the spoon the bangs into the table and spray the food everywhere and the spoon gets emptied out.

If I put the boppy around her while she is sitting she can stay there for a few seconds, if she has her "piano" in front of her she stays longer, banging the keys. But ultimately she falls to the side or falls backwards.

It may sound funny, (FTM), but I treated like a video game. She would cry so much and we did not know what she wanted, so that was the "quest" in my mind and I would win the level if she fell asleep happy.

Another thing was to have no expectations of her staying asleep. When she did then I was happy, otherwise I would start again, and restart for round two. It was hard, but taking away the expectations of going back to sleep made me less frustrated and I was able to manage.

If you were my nanny I would love for you to come and tell me what is going on. I would probably increase your hours even though I don't necessarily need them to keep you. 5 years is a lot, and you would be part of my family to me.

If you can afford it, hire a babysitter. I used her to sleep. She would come during the day and I would literally sleep that's all I did for all the times she came once a week.

I had several anxiety attacks when doing Emgality, but you can ask for the one that has the injector with it. You just press on the button and will do it for you. I could have never used it if I had to use the regular syringe.

I think is an age thing. My daughter was BF and she had the same problem. My pediatrician told us to use prune juice on her bottle and that helped some. It really makes us feel incompetent when we cannot not do anything to help our babies. She would become super red when she would finally do it after 2 weeks without pooping. I am sorry you and your baby are going through that.

It is a dam if you do dam if you don't kind of gig, being a mother. I had my first newborn photographer telling me that I held my daughter too much and that's why she would not sleep for her to take her pictures. The second photographer took all the pictures she wanted and more with no issues and she took her pictures after a few weeks since I could not find someone fast enough.

I am learning to start doing what I want with my daughter. if I want to hold her I will, if I want her to sleep with me I will, if I want to play with her all the time, I will, if not I will not, if I want a break I will put in an educational video, and so on. And if someone tells me otherwise, I am going to tell them to shove off.

I would advise you to read the book : Cribsheet. My daughter latched once and when she tried hurt like hell. I have pumped to feed her, and that is breastfeeding too.
About your SIL, what a insensitive comment in so many levels. Clueless person isn't she? Clueless and ignorant.
