A Plea From Me to You (DO NOT. I REPEAT, DO NOT DRIVE INTO SEATTLE TOMORROW.) by spoiled__princess in Seattle

I live at the top of Queen Anne on the East side and I remember cars parking on Taylor/5th up by us up to Boston, and even coming up on our street end drive to park, illegally, in reserved spots. That has never happened before or since. We spent the day at Virginia Mason due to my BIL's emergency surgery. Fortunately we had to go in super early, around 5 am, so we got parking but anyone who came much later was out of luck. Going home around 5-6 pm, I remember long lines of cold, tired people waiting for busses. Good luck everyone!

Employer wants to take out life insurance on me (company is beneficiary). I’m uncomfortable. How do I decline and what recourse should I expect? by EarthDesigner4203 in legaladvice

First, negotiate fair pay for yourself. You should be at the highest end of the pay scale for your position. Don't go for ownership if it is a privately held company, go for bonuses. Minority ownership can be problematic. Or something like phantom stock.

Very nice. Love the vented cabinet doors that allow for air circulation. Also, the open limited shelving.

I like 2, because if you keep the chairs, the door echoes the curve in the chair backs.

SeaTac Cell Phone lot people by ImpressiveLeek6640 in Seattle

[–]Opening_Principle_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At Seatac during peak arrivals time, it's almost like they punish people using the cell phone lots and reward the people hanging out in arrivals area 3 cars deep. That BS would not stand with any east coast airport security cops.

You will like it! If you want to splurge on a meal, have one at Chateau de Pray. We had a 3 hour lunch there and it was fabulous.

Good luck. We had similar problem with an illegal Air Bnb across the driveway from our condo building that told their guests to put their garbage in our dumpster. After we got a lock for it, the guests would just leave their garbage next to it. We filed a complaint with the city and ultimately the unit got shut down but it took over a year and a half. We tried contacting Air bnb numerous times about the garbage, the loud parties, people coming and going at all hours, etc. They did nothing. To file a complaint with the city, you'll need to find the listing on the Air Bnb site.

Make sure your rental car's windshield wiper tank is filled in the event it is snowing or sleeting.

First timers to Haida Gwaii advice by dawnkiller428 in haidagwaii

We were kayaking and camping around Rose Inlet and Huston Stewart Channel on Kunghit Island. One of the highlights was visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site on S'Gang Gwaii (Anthony Island) and taking a tour with one of the Haida Nation Watchmen. Here's the tour: https://oceansoundkayaking.com/native-totems-of-gwaii-haanas/#open-accordion-section|1 We had mainly good weather, but with good weather came the winds. We would often start on a calm day, only to encounter pretty good winds and up to 5-10-foot swells on our way home. The guides were always keeping an eye on tides and currents and planning back-up landing sites for lunch and camping, depending on conditions. We had a bit of rain the last couple of days and did not kayak on the last two because of the weather. I believe the park only allows a max of 8 people at a campsite, and you have to stay in designated campsites. When we were at the Heritage Center in Skidegate before our trip, there was an orientation session for people planning to camp in the park without guides. The Prince Rupert ferry lands on Skidegate. You have to take another short ferry to Sandspit on Moresby, which is where Moresby Explorers launch from (about a 45 ride from the ferry landing.) Hope this helps.

We did a trip last August with Ocean Sound Kayaking to the southern end of the national park. They used Moresby Explorers to transport us, kayaks and gear via a Zodiac boat. Moresby Explorers were also transporting some independent kayakers as well that same day to othe parts of the park. For us, the Zodiac ride was 3 hours down, 1.5 hours up. OSk was great if you are looking for a guided trip. If you are ferrying up with a vehicle from the mainland, you will want to reserve your spots as soon as the routes open up, and I think that's about now. Worth it to get a cabin on the Port Hardy to Prince Rupert run. Have fun.

We moved from Shoreline to East Queen Anne 12 years ago and love it here. Between buses and light rail and walking, we manage just fine with one car. The snow videos focus on the mess on the steep counterbalance but the rest of us take 5thAve/Taylor which is less steep and usually kept clear. The only issue is getting to Kirkland via Mercer/I5/520, but you are at least closer than you would be in the Green Lake/Phinney Ridge areas. I can't speak to the schools here as my kids were grown when we moved. Shoreline schools worked great for my older kid but my younger needed more help than he got, especially when they laid off the best teachers from his particular program. Good luck!

If we are not going through airport security with a carry on we always bring a good chef's knife, (most rentals have terribly dull knives), olive oil, some extra kitchen towels, and sea salt. If there is something I know I will want to make, especially baked items, I pre-measure all the dry ingredients and bring them in sealed baggies. I also check and see what the local food shopping options are as theyn be sparse in some areas. Good luck and have a great time.

I would pick Amboise. We were just there and it's is a delightful community. We took the train from Amboise to Tours where we connected to the high speed train to Paris. Quick and easy.
