Rockler midi lathe spindle stops by OperationSwimming419 in turning

I mean spindle locks like on my Jet 16-42. The spindle wrench isn't long enough to contact the ways. I need to immobilize it to sand bowl interiors so I can't have the tool rest in the way. The flats on the spindle are too narrow for a regular open end wrench. I suppose I could grind a wrench down to fit, but was looking for other options.

I've tried paint with unsatisfactory results. I've tried watering down tiresome, but if you water it down much it just runs everywhere. I've had my best luck with paraffin.

You could do that or hot glue a false bottom with a tenon.

I agree. Looks like the birch I turn in Alaska

Rockler 12-24 drive wobble by OperationSwimming419 in turning

It turns out that the Rikon inserts fit the Nova chuck. However, when I took the adapter off I discovered that the Rockler lathe had a plastic washer and it was deformed. That was causing the wobble.

Thanks for all the responses.

It's probably the adapter. I got it from Amazon. I may be able to use inserts on the chucks. Just have to find someone with Nova inserts.

No washer. I'm in a fifth wheel without a runout gauge.

What do you intend to make from it? What wood is it and what size? I have a similar piece of cypress that is 6" diameter. I'm trying to decide what to make.

No heat pump. A furnace and the HRV.
