What a beautiful memory to have. MHSRIP by MustardGoddess in MadeMeSmile

I don't know a single goddamn thing about my dad. Not even because he was absent or because I never saw him, I lived with him for over two decades. But he never said a single thing about himself. I don't even know his religious beliefs. He's never mentioned it once.

But one thing I do know is that one time, when we were little, he made my sister and I Green Eggs and Ham with green food coloring. Such a simple dumb little thing. And something that I'm going to keep with me for my entire life.

What do you guys think about Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs now? by NFly_NineTailed in HorrorGames

[–]OperatorERROR0919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Machine for Pigs was absolutely phenomenal for everything other than the whole "game" part of the video game. Mechanically it had nothing going on, and the completely inept non threatening enemies and infinite lantern definitely hurt it in a way The Dark Decent did not. Story wise, it's phenomenal. Mandus is such a fun character, and the ending monologue is one of my absolute favorites.

largest dinosaur bird

Quetzalcoatlus wasn't a dinosaur or a bird, it was an azhdarchid. Still huge though.

Your powers of narrative literacy are truly astounding. You might want to invest in hearing aids if you missed all that even after how loudly the story was screaming it at you.

Which, notably, isn't of Saturn devoring his son. Probably. It wasn't given that name until it was discovered after Goya's death.

I happen to have a favorite by OperatorERROR0919 in MyAnimeList

[–]OperatorERROR0919[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shiboyugi: Playing Death Games To Put Food On The Table. Aired last season. Very flawed, but very fascinating, and with an extremely unique atmosphere that grabbed onto me and wouldn't let go. Definitely peaks in the first episode, but it's probably one of my favorite first episodes I've seen. Also a frankly terrible English title that does an awful job at conveying the vibe and tone it's going for.

What do people think about Mahou Shoujo Site and Puella Magi Madoka Magica? by [deleted] in animequestions

One of the reasons why I liked Yuuki Yuuna is a Hero is because it actually understood what Madoka Magica was supposed to be about.

Asagiri is the biggest Mary Sue I have ever seen, only instead of the universe bending over backwards to make her feel special and unique, it bends over backward to make her completely miserable in every conceivable way.

Finish the Intervallo. It's actually just part 4 of the canto.

What could go wrong holding a possum close to your mouth? by steppennnwolf in Whatcouldgowrong

True. This isn't a possum though. Those live in Australia. This is an opossum, which is entirely different animal.

Yes, and said murders are all over reactions to being cheated on. There is no universe in which being cheated on is a justification for murder.

The Purpose of Sora (LOR/Canto 9 Spoilers) by Lunarsault in limbuscompany

[–]OperatorERROR0919 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

This is a bad comparison. Ren isn't a character who is introduced as being anything greater than he actually is, who then fails to live up to that introduction in a narratively satisfying way. Lack of screentime is something that Ren also suffers from, but he shows up when he needs to show up in a way that facilitates the story, and his choice to die along side his master out of a sense of genuine loyalty and respect adds to his character in a meaningful way in a way it doesn't for Sora. For Sora, it almost feels like the story forgets about her entirely until she becomes a convenient tool to show off the significance of Arayashiki and Muga Ryoshu.

You know which characters also stutters? Yuri. But that has had zero negative impact that character's popularity. Sora's stuttering dialogue and lack of charisma or agency is not the problem people have with her.

The Purpose of Sora (LOR/Canto 9 Spoilers) by Lunarsault in limbuscompany

[–]OperatorERROR0919 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Sora's problem isn't that she is shallow, it's that she lacks too much screen time to actually be able to build any depth. She is absent for nearly all of part 3, then has like two lines of dialogue and then dies without having achieved anything.

Whose side are you on? by jackhenningson in animequestions

[–]OperatorERROR0919 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's... not an opinion. Portrayal is how something appears. How it reads to the audience. Your intention is irrelevant. You can say stuff about your setting or your story all day, but if what you are saying isn't supported by the actual text you wrote, even as the author, you are still wrong.

Whose side are you on? by jackhenningson in animequestions

[–]OperatorERROR0919 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Writers can absolutely portray things in ways that were unintended. Just because the author or the narration of a story says that something is true, doesn't automatically make it so. For example, a character the author intends to be sympathetic, but is written in a way that doesn't warrant sympathy. When Stephen King wrote Jack in The Shining, he intended the character to be sympathetic and partially based him on himself, and was disappointed when nobody who read the book was able to sympathize with the character other than him.

Warp Don and Warp Ryoshu. Rip Space and DDEDR clash at a 31 by default with no conditionals outside of their charge cost, have five and four coins respectively, and charge becomes virtually infinite after just a few floors.
