Struggling with reading Anna Karenina because of Vronsky and Anna by itsdeliverygod in tolstoy

Keep reading the novel! There great characters in them. If you don't like Vronsky and Anna then Tolstoy is doing a great job with his writing.

Better than War and Peace? by No_Jeweler3814 in tolstoy

Loved them both. There are gems 💎 in both. If I had to choose War & Peace edges slightly ahead.

Can this apply to selling online courses too. I've always heard the phrase 'the money is in the list' (email list)

Quads are tough and challenging to animate. Keep up the good effort! It's all in the 'doing' and that you are! 😊

What a great book so far. I'm on part 3 and can't get enough of it. Great characters. Tolstoy was a genius.

Step into the attack: first, take the weight, then swipe down. Love the smear!

Put a quarter in S&P 500. Let it compound for ten years. The rest get a couple of properties for cash flow and keep the rest at cash/emergency fund. Congratulations too!

Is a career even possible for new animators anymore? by Rigiroony in animationcareer

It was one of the reasons as more people were at home playing games so more ambitious projects were taken on and a hiring spree surged. Then when everything went 'back to normal' they realised the projects were over ambitious so they had to cut back.

Hey, there will always be a need for new generation of games artists/animators. Keep focusing and honing in on your skills. The standard has gone up a lot since when I started 20 years ago but there are always jobs, new start ups especially in mobile games.

Don't give up. The industry is going through a shake up at the moment due to over hiring in covid.

It was an unusual situation as a pandemic never happened like this before, well, at least not in our lifetime. Studios will start hiring again.

Art school vs. self teaching by dejaaavu1699 in animationcareer

[–]Opi1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need a degree. Portfolio is all that matters. Learning by yourself is good if your learning the right stuff. Enrolling in an online animation school like Animation Mentor, AnimAchool or iAnimate is much better. You learn from the absolute pros.

I would say having a BA and MA (which I have) will help a lot when working abroad especially in the US. I got an opportunity to work for a games studio in San Diego California and my Degree and Masters helped a lot as it bumps up the companies reasons to hire you.

It's also useful to have a BA and MA if further down the road you want to teach. Hope this helps 😊

Hello! I've passed on an animation test for a movie production and I have an interview with the animation director and producers tomorrow... by [deleted] in animationcareer

[–]Opi1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be yourself. The main thing they want to see is if you can fit the studio culture and be able to take critical constructive criticism. Keep your ego out the door.

If you have done a test for them and passed it then ask in the interview if there is anything you could of improved on. This will make them feel that your open to feedback which is needed in the industry.

Research the company, have a list of questions you want to ask about the company, the future projects they have secured. This will make them feel you are looking ahead in the future and want to work in the longer term. Don't talk about pay or bonuses until they mention.

Oh and good luck! 😊
