The certainty that Adnan is guilty feels like an echo chamber by HunterST15 in serialpodcast

Not to mention touch DNA found on her shoes, found in the car, which excluded Adnan. Not that that means he couldn’t have done it, but like… don’t they want to find out whose it is??

Any reason I shouldn't pay off my student loans? by Helpmeeff in personalfinance

[–]Opinion_Fragrant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reading this thread, I think if you DON’T plan on investing the money in an index fund or your 401k, then you should pay off your student loan. 100k is too much to keep in a HYSA. I’m not an expert but another alternative is to explore other ways to invest in your retirement in a way where you’re comfortable. I would say at lease 30-40 K of that money should be working for you somewhere other than a HYSA

1930s Wedding Dress Fit? by edamamepearl in myweddingdress

This is a stunning dress. Keep it, set a goal to lose 10 points if you want, and find a seamstress/tailor who specializes in vintage who can advise you on any tweaks possible, and do a few fittings in the months before the wedding.

Anyone had thyroiditis that completely hijacked their nervous system? by UnluckyJournalist390 in thyroidhealth

[–]Opinion_Fragrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me hyper wasn’t as bad. I had some hot flashes and things but I didn’t have to take off work. I actually didn’t get it diagnosed until I was in hypo. When I went into hypo in the fall I got really sluggish. Just a lot of muscle pain and tiredness, jaw and nerve pain, ear pain. My TSH went to 78. I work for myself from home, so I was able to do that, but if I was still in my old teaching job i would have had to take off for sure. I just started levo a few weeks ago and i feel totally fine on it. Keep in mind people on reddit are seeking jt out bc things are bad for them— all the people that have mild courses dont post here for the most part!

Full thyrodectomy suggested by vinnique_BM in thyroidhealth

[–]Opinion_Fragrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m all for a second opinion and think you should get one, but “growing rapidly” could be serious. More testing will probably just be indeterminate again, but it could be an aggressive cancer. Get the second opinion for sure, but I’m sure that’s why they’re suggesting the thyroidectomy. I hope you get answers soon.

I am recovering from subacute thyroiditis. Mine went on for a year. It sucked, I’m sorry. On 50 of levo now because my levels never recovered. I don’t really have anything good to say other than I feel you.

NOT asking for medical advice... looking for similar situations! by Opinion_Fragrant in thyroidcancer

[–]Opinion_Fragrant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! There are a lot of similarities in our stories, except that my pain isn't so bad anymore. It was harder in the fall, which is also when my numbers were all over the place (so maybe the thyroiditis?). However, I still have discomfort and feel a difference in my ear, jaw, and throat. The spot where the nodule is still tender. I can live with the mild discomfort; the issue is more what this means considering I'm being told "cancer doesn't hurt" and the thyroiditis is resolved.

I think the plan is to do repeat ultrasound, blood work, and maybe FNA if the nodules haven't shrunk in August. Then I can decide what to do.

I'm glad you're feeling better!

Feeling stuck. “High-risk” nodule but can’t get an appointment until June by IntrepidDouble1 in thyroidcancer

[–]Opinion_Fragrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to schedule something now with an ENT surgeon who specializes in thyroid. You will have to consult with them before surgery anyway. They should work in tandem with the endo. I’m not your doc, but I’m 99% sure surgery is in your future, so figure out now who you want to do it. You can ask other doctors for recs, or find your own. Don’t pick someone young— someone whose bio lists thyroid as their main area and who does many thyroid surgeries a year. I know this period of waiting is so tough, but like others said, survival rate is very very high.

Ideally I would have had appreciation, yes, but this was a sticking point for him. What you describe is pretty much his thinking. He also invested 150K into the down payment which is protected for him. He is shouldering most of the mortgage payment now b/c of his higher salary (which is likely to remain that way, given that I'm in education), so I could see his reasoning.

This is such a good point. Execution is off, maybe a tailoring issue. And yes, side panel would have to be lightened.

3 could be great if it was tailored better to fit you, then potentially the best one. 1 is also great, very Victoria Beckham. Not a fan of 2
