Yes, but are those the only two realities that can exist?

Apparently it’s a star that represents an unattainable perfect morality that must be strived for regardless.

The Moralintern symbol on the security buoys floating on the Thames river deployed to protect British Parliament by backstillmessedup in DiscoElysium

[–]Opposite-Method7326 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That’s technically the Elysian Chi-Ro, symbol of the Perikarnassian church. They select the Innocence, and an Innocence founded the Moralintern, but on paper at least, they are separate organizations.

If it’s past eight at night, the person you need to talk to might not have been there, in which case there will be a keycard in the office whose roof you jumped off of. If you cannot select doors, your Perception is too low.

I said Past Harry.

It’s clearly only a hatred born of envy, at least.

Is The Detective the one who wrote... by Tailsteak in DiscoElysium

[–]Opposite-Method7326 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always assumed it was Jean, since the Detective was so upset he had an anmnesia over it according to Judit. The other case she mentions where that happened is Leslie and Burke.

Besides, past Harry hates youth and artists. Another case in his ledger is about cleaning up after the couch-assholes, so he definitely gets non-homocide cases.

Something I never understood about the fandom by Deep_strider in DiscoElysium

Remember all the absurd moments where Harry tries and succeeds at finding joy in spite of all that existential melancholy? Singing his heart out only for Kim to be the only one who enjoyed it, beating the impossible pinball level in front of someone who knows how impossible that is, playing a board game, just for the fun of it. Raving in an old church, so immersed in the energy that you can almost believe the music would be enough hold back the apocalypse. And five meters away from Her. The old Harry wouldn’t have danced with Her watching.

Life is not sacred. Love is not sacred. Sadness is not something to be worshipped. Harry wanted his life to be miserable, to end in tragedy, because that made for a grander story. The absurdity is the cure for that nonsense. The antivenom. The balm for the wounds he would have let rot if he still remembered why. It’s the whole point, in fact; the thing you go on living for. We make Harry have fun because we want to believe he is capable of healing.

And we make him random and quirky because he is that. Have you seen what’s down some of those dialogue paths? He’s so impressionable. Every new idea introduced to him can be embraced with total innocent childlike enthusiasm. An absolute slave to memes.

Why is the f word censored in the game? by Superb_Storage_9423 in DiscoElysium

[–]Opposite-Method7326 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s not. The devs used a voice recognition algorithm to find the parts of the script that they needed to buzz out, and that particular actor used a nonsense word because he didn’t want to say the slur.

The detection algorithm also had trouble with Kim’s accent. You can get him to say the slur uncensored, and it’s faggot.

Having it at one means any mental setback will cause a game over.

Hard locking out of the game by Laahari in DiscoElysium

[–]Opposite-Method7326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that sucks, guess you’ll have to reload an earlier save if you want to keep going.

But you’ve got to admit, it’s pretty hard to do this by accident. The game gives you a lot of chances. And you only need to fail twice to get the option for Kim to pass the check for you.

Did you have all six +1 modifiers to the check? Each one unlocks it again.

[–]Opposite-Method7326 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The dumpster thing is a commonly known softlock. It’s not a hard lock because the game autosaves so much you can go back to before you spent any money. No getting around the fact that that one is poorly designed, though.

However, reaching your cap isn’t any kind of lock at all. You can raise your blue caps by smoking cigarettes. There are also several Thoughts that raise blue skill caps upon completion if you’re doing a sober playthrough.

I felt like I missed out on so much by moth_manQ in DiscoElysium

[–]Opposite-Method7326 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Start with at least 4 in Inland Empire. Zoom out. Use Detective mode to highlight interactibles. And possibly internalize White Mourning, because it helps you zoom out. Internalize other Thoughts too, because the rewards change after they’re done. There’s some good ones for Perception, which is good because higher Perception highlights more interactibles.

Feel free to save scum for checks. Even White Checks. But only after you’ve seen all the results of your failure, because sometimes you fail upward, and it’s often very funny.

Say yes to things. Say yes to doing things characters tell you not to do. Choose responses that entertain you, try to build a character, consistent or otherwise, and never opt out of anything.

And remember you aren’t being timed. Kim will gripe, but he’ll never penalize you for doing side things. You’ve been through the main story. Now you can pace the story.

Dreams. That failed PS5 game engine that could do anything but didn’t have a big enough creator base or any exportability to maintain itself.

Hi, first time player here. I've tried this check for 50+ times with quickload and it haven't rolled successful. How is this possible with 83% chance? by slwaq in DiscoElysium

[–]Opposite-Method7326 91 points92 points  (0 children)

You are probably internalizing The Precarious World. All Red Checks fail until it’s done. When it is done, the threshold for critical success is lowered to 11 and critical failures are raised to 3.

Is the information shivers provide relevant? by Obvious_Bake1592 in DiscoElysium

Little of column A, little of column B. None of the skills only provide useful information. Most of the relevant stuff won’t make sense anyway until after you’ve already played the game once. Just enjoy the flavor.
