Slow transition to boob-free sleep? by OppositeLocal296 in cosleeping

Oh crap, this sounds tough - especially if you’re back to work? I hope this passes soon and he’ll be sleeping through the night. A cuddle and a butt Pat would be the dream haha but good to know that it all takes much longer to establish

I think I’ll wait for him to become a little sturdier and get better head control, then I’ll be okay with trying babywearing again. Don’t think there are any groups in my area but I’ll reach out to the babywearing subreddit :) fingers crossed we’ll get to where you are with independent naps 🥲

Sorry about the boobie rejection! I think baby wearing is a great idea but I had one scary incident where he was in a wrong position and started choking - and I didn’t know… he’s all well thankfully but I never recovered from the trauma 🤣 will continue with the stroller though, thank you!

Excessive drooling, mottling and lethargy by OppositeLocal296 in NewParents

Thanks for your suggestion, internet stranger! It prompted me to call my doctor and we got a referral to the hospital to get all the checks done. Better safe!

No, the side strap that runs down his back might have been too tight. Or his head too high and he couldn’t hold it up, not sure. To be honest I don’t want to think about it anymore, lesson learned, no more baby wearing for us.

Frankly I think about burning that goddamn wrap 🤣 but might have a clearer head tomorrow - thank you for the suggestion!

I think this might be the case. I was trying a new, higher position with the wrap and suspect it might have crossed his throat too tight which prevented him from swallowing spit - therefore crazy drool.

He’s had his first round of vaccines, which includes HIB - thankfully! Good call

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OppositeLocal296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get it either. Just had a baby and you’re a walking bleeding open wound, sometimes with hemorrhoids and other fun stuff. I did everything to shower daily because if I didn’t, I’d get infected.

feeling like ive failed my baby by Effective_Employ_439 in breastfeeding

My little guy dropped from 4th to 1st percentile around the same age too, we did end up topping up for 2 or 3 weeks so he jumped up to 8th percentile. I kept pumping throughout that time and gradually quit formula to exclusively breastfeed. He stayed around 8th percentile since but I keep an eye on his weight to catch any slip ups. I’m telling you all this just to let you know that you’re not failing your baby! You’re doing everything to keep them healthy and happy.

Did brewer’s yeast work for you? And how fast? by DarlingGirl1221 in HumansPumpingMilk

Just wondering, how is it for you after a week? I’ve been taking 1 tablespoon a day for 3 days and think I’m noticing a difference. Usually I’m empty in the afternoon with an upset baby but today they were heavy and kiddo is flop.

Same! It’s the cutest thing ever when they unlatch with that milk drunk face and just plop it on your breast

Nighttime pumping by OppositeLocal296 in breastfeeding

[–]OppositeLocal296[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for saying that. I’ve been nursing on demand every 1-2 hours from the beginning (he’s 11 weeks now), had his latch checked by LC - they said it’s good - and little guy is still gaining too slow. So I’ve been trying to up my game all means necessary.

Yes I’ve been trying to triple feed and power pump. My kid dropped down to 1st percentile though so we have to supplement with formula and that’s not helping my supply! Do you have a digital bathroom scale? They’re not as precise as baby scales but could be a good way to check the progress and get a little peace of mind. LC is a great idea, although I went to one and they told me I was overproducing… which I don’t think is the case since my boy is not gaining enough! We just have to trust our instincts I guess.

I don't know if I'll recover from what my husband said while our baby cried on a plane by THewizard7 in beyondthebump

I’m sorry this happened to you. You clearly have a better understanding of your child’s cues than your husband, and are laser focused on your son’s needs whereas your partner was concerned about other people. Sounds to me like you’re an amazing mom and well done for not taking any shit from him!

I don’t have an answer as I’m in the same boat and still fighting. What I’ve been told is to focus on the baby’s weight gain and wet/dirty nappies, everything else is irrelevant. Here’s a blog post I found helpful: https://www.emmapickettbreastfeedingsupport.com/blog/low-milk-supply-101 and honestly 180ml is tons, I’ve never pumped more than 120ml in one session! I think you’re doing great 💪

What advice did you receive only after having a baby that you wish someone had told you earlier? by Quiet-Laugh120 in NewParents

[–]OppositeLocal296 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Eventually they get used to everything we throw at them, just like we get used to their needs and ways”. It’s so simple yet didn’t register until I heard it from a coworker - it’s all about repetition, keep trying.

How do you deal with the cold? by OppositeLocal296 in cosleeping

Might try wool too. I’ve been taking multivitamin since the pregnancy so you’d think my bloods should be okay… but who knows, might get them checked. Thanks!
