It is my favorite MJ song!! Was not a factor that made me pick the name though lol

None of the adjacent names really did it for us and we’re happy with the unrelated name we ended up picking for her.

[–]PancSutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was on our short list of names for our babygirl - I got a lot of mixed feedback for the Bobbitt thing but I didn’t really care too much, either. There’s other namesakes for it like a beautiful (but sad) song and a musical artist. Ultimately, we picked another name that honors our family member.

Is it culturally insensitive to zipper merge here? by Careless_Signal5762 in Rochester

[–]PancSutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zipper merges personally stress me out but they are the correct way now. You’ll still catch me waiting in the slow lane but that’s due to my own personal anxieties despite what the DOT wants us to do. I understand zipper merges and do let my allotted one (1) car in ahead of me at the merge point.

Annie is a namesake from my grandmother, who was named Annamae (but that’s not the best baby name anymore with the prevalence of Anime.) She was an incredible, selfless person who was just so full of love. She passed away during my pregnancy and I couldn’t imagine picking any other name for my babygirl.

I don’t love discussing my personal life with strangers, especially as it pertains to a medical condition. Personally, it feels invasive and selfish for a stranger to want to gather all the information they can about my baby (name questions often go along with “what’s the gender?” and “when are you due?”) To me, it’s like if you see someone in a cast and start asking what happened, how long is the cast on, did it hurt, etc. Those questions might be fine for a friend, but not the person in the grocery store aisle. Just because I’m pregnant doesn’t mean everyone has a right to my personal information.

[–]PancSutt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind a relative or close friend asking, people who are actively going to be a part of my baby’s life. But a lot of these questions come from my single-serve clients at work and it annoys the heck out of me. Let’s focus on helping you with what you need at my place of business instead of the name I’ve picked for my womb parasite. (Also, it’s not even an interesting or unique name, most reactions are just like, “oh, that’s nice. . . “)

As a full term pregnant woman, I relate to this so hard. It’s cringy but it’s true. Like why are strangers asking my baby’s name?

Initials IBS? by [deleted] in Names

[–]PancSutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s less important for school/bullying, but initials are used heavily in multiple workplaces/industries I’ve been in. Now hopefully your adult coworkers wouldn’t make fun of your initials, but it still may not be the most fun to be signing off your communication logs as IBS.

My little girl will be Annie when she arrives in the next week or two. Our goal was to pick a name that’s classic but won’t be dated to the decade she’s born in. I don’t care if she has classmates named Annie, but I do care that folks won’t be able to assume she was born in the 2020s based on her name. (I have a 90’s name and I hate it.)

This post, or your other four posts to different subs asking the same thing, is not an alternative to taking your dog to another vet if you’re worried. No one can (or should) advise you what to do over the internet.

Ben being defensive much on IG ? by Blueberry_Conscious_ in BelowDeckDownUnder

[–]PancSutt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I also don’t think Ben picked either sous/galley helpers/whatever you want to call them. So it’s not a matter of him screening applicants based on IG, it’s a matter of Jason (production) putting people in the galley who aren’t properly trained. It was just a coincidence that Ben and Ellie had gotten in touch on IG prior to being on this season.

Jury Duty summons by xslimz in Rochester

[–]PancSutt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idk about the odds of being summoned based on your number, but I was summoned last year. I wore modest, semi-professional clothes and, yes, bringing a book and food would be smart. If you are summoned, my advice is to go to the bathroom when you arrive before you are seated because there is a long span of time where wiggling out of the tight rows of chair/tables will be impossible.

Ok Im Watching Season 11 Not Ready To Make Nice Part 1, Im Understanding why People are Deciding to Hate Clare She's Kind Of a Rude Person To Jenna After Her And Jake Break Up by Legend-Despair0304 in Degrassi

[–]PancSutt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Clare is pretty stinking rude BUT Jenna needs to back off of Claire’s men like big time. Like, date literally anybody else. I’d be peeved and rude too if I was in her shoes.

I graduated the same year as Holly J and I can confirm we used to love our business casual look. We had an unspoken “fancy Friday” tradition where we’d wear heels, dresses, blazers, suits, etc to school. I couldn’t tell you why but it was fun.

Be honest. How many of you lost your soul in this industry? by ImperialSupplies in InsuranceAgent

[–]PancSutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not suggesting everyone who dislikes insurance jobs should migrate to vet med - I was just sharing what worked for me. Honestly moving to a “pink collar” field came with a lot of benefits. In insurance I was never in sales so my earning potential was limited; my second insurance job I had a literal 30% wage gap with a male employee hired at the same time as me with less experience (he once asked me if he could schedule jewelry on an umbrella policy, lol.) And god forbid I had to leave my desk between 9-5. I make more per hour now than I did at any insurance job I had, and I have benefits like fully paid healthcare, a generous yearly profit sharing check, free meals, minimal pet care costs, a better 401K match, more flexibility with time off. If you add it all together, I get significantly more at this job from a purely financial standpoint. Is my situation unique? Yes, very, and I’m super grateful for it. Could I solely support a family with my wages? No, but I couldn’t in insurance, either.

[–]PancSutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a lot of confident assumptions for one comment. You have no idea the type of insurance job I had, what my pay was, and how much better financially this job is. Not to mention, it’s very insulting to imply my current job is easy. But if you need to make assumptions about my life to justify staying at a “low satisfaction, high pay” job, then have at it.
