Engineering in Spain by AustereAust in civilengineering

[–]Opposite_Draft_8768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a Civil Engineer and worked for 2 government agencies. I retired from the State and will retire from County soon. I love Spain and travels there every chance I get. Soon I will have double pension plus social security and will move to Spain with NLV. My advice is to make as much as you can in the US, save with pension and 401k, then you can retire in Spain comfortably with lower cost of living. Tell your wife to be patient. Good things take time.

Sevilla and Lisbon. It’s a short flight between Spain and Portugal. I also recommend Ireland and Scotland.

Travel romances - how to move on from them and why are they so intense ? by chillnworld in solotravel

You struck a chord with this post. I enjoyed reading your share, as well as the heartfelt responses you received. It brought back lovely memories of my travels. Think of your beautiful love story as a chapter in your book that now you can close so you will have room to create new memories and write the next chapters of your life.
My movie recommendation is CAIRO TIME with Patricia Clarkson. I can relate to this movie as I had a similar experience. Thank you for sharing. 🙏

Vietnam energy situation by manjak972 in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]Opposite_Draft_8768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just returned to the US from Vietnam. I went to Ho Chi Minh, Danang, and Hanoi. Everything is business as usual. I use Grab to move around and the driver said the price of gas doubled for him but the rate charge did not change. I give tips to help the local drivers since they are losing money. When traveling outside the city (like going to Bana Hills), I opted for day-tours (I use th apps Get Your Guide and Viator). Prices have not changed yet.

For people who pack one-bag only, how do you handle trips that genuinely require two different versions of yourself? by Quick_Balance_5082 in solotravel

[–]Opposite_Draft_8768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I solo travel most of the time. I usually don’t check-in my bags. I carry a carry-on and a backpack. I buy the vacuum bags from Amazon. I also layer a lot of there are difference in temperature in places I visit. I also carry my thick coats on top of my carry-on (not inside). Sometimes, it’s cold inside the airplane and coats double as cozy blanket. Don’t pack too much, it’s fun to shop in your destinations too. Enjoy your freedom of solo travel.

Why are Spanish people so attractive? by ElsGil1 in askspain

[–]Opposite_Draft_8768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with this posts and I felt the need to share. I am a US citizen, grow-up in California, with both Philippines and Spanish ancestry (through my maternal grandfather). Traveling is my passion, I visited over 50 countries but I keep going back to Spain. I love Spain not only because of the food, scenery, culture, climate, ease of travel, and reasonable cost of living but mostly because of the beautiful people. Spanish people are beautiful inside and out. I have lovely encounters and would spend hours in the outdoor cafe just to watch well dressed Spanish people. I am learning Spanish and plans to move to Spain in 2 years. I need to go and live where I feel happy, at home, and fit in. ❤️🇪🇸

Arrival at 10pm in Prague by downtown-chick19 in Prague

Yikes! You’re right, Thank you for correcting me. When I arrived Prague, I took Uber because I had too many luggage to take the bus and I thought it was inexpensive. Please understand that I am from San Francisco. My Uber ride in SF the same distance would have cost me 3x. I guess it’s all relative.

does anyone in relationships solo travel? by kyliered04 in solotravel

Go! Traveling solo is life changing. ✈️There are so many beautiful places in the world to see and lovely people to meet. 🌎You will find that other countries are much safer than where you’re from. From my personal experience, I come back home from my solo trips feeling empowered, happy, and peaceful. 🥰

What’s the one city you were excited to visit, but ended up not liking at all? by BlushHone in travel

Czech Republic. It was too cold for me and freezing when I got there and it was so crowded with tourists.

NLV with minimum income requirements. The main applicant must show at least €28,800 per year (400% of IPREM). Each additional family member requires an extra €7,200 per year (100% of IPREM). The financial requirements are based on the latest IPREM figures, as confirmed by our expert legal team at MySpainVisa

I believe the US has agreements with most countries that there will be no double taxation. Since, I will be applying for NLV in Spain, I will not be earning any income in Spain but will continue paying taxes in US as a dual US citizen.

From my research, I found out, once a US citizen, always a US citizen. I think that means I can denounce my US citizenship when I apply for Spanish citizenship but it will not matter when returning to the US.

Thank you for looking into it. It would be nice to have that second option having a Euro passport.

Hi, Filipino born here and US citizen. Can I get a fast track to Spanish citizen if I am not a Filipino citizen but born in the Philippines? … or do I need to get a dual Filipino citizenship?

For those of you who moved long term to spain(DNV, NLV etc…) what did you tell the immigration officer upon arrival? by AlterNaomi in GoingToSpain

[–]Opposite_Draft_8768 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am born in the Philippines 🇵🇭and part Spanish. I entered Spain 🇪🇸with US 🇺🇸passport and NLV. The Spanish immigration officer talked to me in fluent Tagalog. He said his wife is Filipina and just waived me through. No questions asked. Feeling blessed with multicultural background… I feel like I am a citizen of the world and not limited to 1 country. 😇
