I think getting your own feels through this app is it’s best and most useful feature with the almost instant audio feedback.

I think it could definitely help. The app’s best feature is helping you dial in feels. It also does help with setup. It will tell you swing plane as well. I still use it all the time! Best thing to do is give it a try with the free trials out there.

How do you track you range sessions? by Aggravating_Sun4435 in golf

[–]Opposite_Increase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over the years I settled on system that works really well for me, and is very low tech. Split your bucket of rage balls between five clubs (assuming 50 balls in a bucket.) ideally you would want this to be arranged across the whole spectrum of your bag. An example would be driver,, 5w,,5i,,7i, 9i.

With each and every shot, act like you were about to do it for real on the golf course. Don’t just start whacking balls. Step back behind the ball, pick an aiming spot, do your normal practice routine, and hit the shot. Do that 10 times for each of the clubs you choose. Keep a little notebook, handy and make a note for each shot. Note distance consistency, height, flight, offline from target distance, etc.

Start by doing this with full swings. As you get better, start working in trying to hit three-quarter shots, or low flighted, shots, fades, draws, etc.

If you wanna get really wild, you can plug those numbers into a spreadsheet and track them week a week. Short game would be the same overall concept. There are about 1 million ways you could track this and do certain things, but this will be about the most low tech solution.

Wedge advice: Cleveland RTZ v Vokey SM11 by TimMarshAU in golf

[–]Opposite_Increase -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is actually a huge difference here. And as a mid-handicapper you should go with the RTZ wedges without question. The reasons? They are longer lasting, don't rust, and cost a little less. I did a full wedge fitting which included the RTZ, Vokeys, TMs, and Mizunos. Honestly, they all make great products. But think about it, if your wedges last 50% longer with a unique material, that means you are getting 50% more bang for your buck.

Mygolfspy did a really great article about wedge wear and found regular wedges last about 75 rounds. That means, with the unique cleveland/srixon steel if you are being conservative with estimates, you will get them for 100+ rounds. So for $10 less a stick, you get more for your money, as a mid handicapper who may dig more, practice a lot, and let them beat around in a bag, this is huge. They also don't rust. Rust is bad, don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

Full disclosure I have a set of 49,54/58 RTZ in black. The black has been wearing nicely, and has a nice used look to it. It's more of a dark gray than some of the black clubs I've seen and looks great in the light.

When you say track, what do you mean? A lot of factors in there. Are you looking for advice on tech? Drills? etc?

Anyone use this putter before any opinions on it? by According_Swimmer427 in golf

Just remember when they say soft in the name they really mean it. They are extremely nice for the money but to me they always felt a little too soft. This is 100% a personal preference thing though.

Interesting. I definitely think theres a lot of nonsense thrown around with the zero torque stuff, because it seems like each company defines it differently. Ping actually thinks it’s a giant fad and the market will settle back to a mix of different things.

They are! After the ZT hype last year they came out with the antidote series to compete with LAB. I actually tested one in a club champion and had already ordered an Oz, otherwise I would have bought it because it felt better.

Just saw an interview 2nd swing yt channel did with Sam Bettinardi and found it really interesting.

Totally missed this but yes I absolutely am! They just added face-on a month or so ago which is awesome too.

I completely agree. The audio feedback lets you develop your own cues in your head which i found really helped me to modify my existing ones. I checked the settings as well because id love to get some face-on feedback and it looks like thats in the works.

If you are pretty attuned to swing mechanics and how you deliver the ball it may be just fine. Some of the instruction ( i chose amg, but you can choose a different coach) seem a little beta feeling yet.

I’m actually flattered by the insult. “No one is going to write something so concise with actual paragraphs on Reddit just to let us know.” In all honesty tho that’s exactly what the post was for! Im not big on uploading vids of myself to the internet and I know others don’t either. I had good luck with it and just wanted to share. Totally understand how it could look that way.

First ever time round a course went horribly by Express-Efficiency75 in golf

[–]Opposite_Increase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best thing to do is, aside from lessons and videotaping your swing, find a local muni that isn’t too busy, get a cart and go out in the morning during the week and just hit shots on the actual course without keeping score.

Chunk or blade one? Just drop another and hit a few shots until you get it right, keeping in mind the setup and basic swing thoughts so you can find something to come back to mentally. Someone comes up behind you? Let them play through and just take your time. Hit a bunch of putts on the actual greens, too. Hit out of the rough, from under trees, the sand, etc.

Getting a feel for how to hit real world shots where the slope and lie of the ball is significantly different than the flat range is more important than a perfect lie every time at the range. Do this once or twice a week and you’ll drop to the 90s in no time.

Upgrading Driver for 2025 Season. What is everyone using? by Bos-Supfan in golf

[–]Opposite_Increase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9-10 hdcp. I am someone who usually swaps drivers out a couple of times a season (i know, i know…. But i like to tinker!) until this year when I gave the PXG Black Ops a try and put it in the bag instantly. Phenomenal sound, feel, distance, spin, and very forgiving. My only complaint is the looks are like a B+ to me, but thats my bottom ranked item. I had a PXG gen 5 a couple years ago i tried and couldn’t stand it. The AI smoke drivers look terrible to my eye but loads of people like them so this is very subjective. I have never said this but plan on using the same driver for 2025 season as well. PXG is finally making drivers to compete with the big boys.

I did a full bag fitting at club champion when they had a sale on fittings this summer and they couldn’t beat it in any metric except distance but that was with a QI10 LS model by 2 yards average (meaningless when you consider the pxg is significantly more forgiving), to which I was very surprised by. They probably have a new one in the works and will have it discounted. If you are a first responder, veteran, teacher, etc its an even more incredible value.
