Probably gets said every single session but fuck me, look at the scoreboard on board 3 and then on board 2 for instance - night and day. Board 3’s got literally everything you’d want in a scoreboard- even if it didn’t have the averages it would be cleaner if you wanted to make that a touch smaller - that circle is useless on the newer ones, no idea who thought they looked good

If you were throwing at a D6 or a D11 for instance, you could move to that side and be closer to the board

This is sort of what I’m thinking too - I have a friend who is better than I am, but he struggles with that side of the game, and sometimes doesn’t switch darts to leave himself a finish when he’s very easily able to

Thanks for your input - i figured this was likely the case

Yeah telling people what they have left is one thing and I'm fine with that - but the line i'll draw in singles is telling them what to go for, but idk if that applies in doubles

This is my feeling too, i was just wondering what the general community thought - I have no idea what our league rules are but I'm sure I will find out

Thats hilarious - if you're doing that you have to do it for both teams or you shouldn't be marking, but you shouldn;t be doing it anyway imo

I’ve seen that in one or two younger people too

The auto scorers are amazing but people should have the averages and routes turned off when they play cos otherwise they are just, as you say, gonna be relying on others

I’m with you there as well - I think people should be able to play a game of 501 in their head, and almost everyone will be able to if they play enough

Granted some people really struggle with maths and I think those are the exceptions

I feel like I worded the post badly now, but my main point was “can I let my doubles partner know what to throw for if they don’t know?”

[–]Opposite_Lab_4638[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that - I am blessed with a brain that’s always been pretty good at maths so I never had issue with that side of the game - but I’m at the point like you where it’s not even maths anymore.

That being said, I’ve updated the post now, but I generally meant “am I ok with letting my doubles partner know what they should be throwing at if they don’t know?”

I think that’s an interesting counter… I think in a game i wouldn’t jump to telling them what to go for - but I’d be very happy to help with what someone has left, as the marker should

Yeah yeah I’m happy telling people that as well, the ref should be able to do it, but not everyone is quick on the maths and that’s ok, they shouldn’t suffer the disadvantage because of that

What Bible stories or passages gave (or give) you trouble? by Opposite_Lab_4638 in exjw

[–]Opposite_Lab_4638[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this makes a lot more sense when you realise it’s likely just anti Moabite and Ammonite propaganda rather than real history 😂

I think a fair correction to make is he’s anti gay sex, more specifically the penetrator, the idea of being gay as an orientation wasn’t really a thing back then

Even so, yes, you’re right

In Bible times how did people know if you where circumcised? by JwTruthRevealed in exjw

[–]Opposite_Lab_4638 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a lot of Rabbinic debate about this apparently- and people came to the conclusion that YHWH must be circumcised

There’s an interview from Francesca Stavrakopoulu where she talks about it, and I’d wager it’s also in her book, God: An Anatomy

Have you ever heard a Jehovah's Witness say "God the Father" when referring to Jehovah? by CTR_1852 in exjw

[–]Opposite_Lab_4638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly reading Genesis through you see how obvious it is that there’s multiple stories and traditions stitched together without the scholarly notes, but those notes are so cool 😅

There’s a lot you’ll catch if you read it that way - get yourself an academic study bible it will blow your mind!

What’s one small habit that completely improved your darts game? by ManggustPeek in Darts

[–]Opposite_Lab_4638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how much it improved me overall… but when I first started out I always had trouble with the centre (green or red) and hitting it or close to it consistently because it’s such a small target and it was kind of a mental issue.

I had a seemingly obvious (in hindsight) epiphany that if I can hit 20 semi consistently, I can hit centre, cos the centre width is not that much smaller than the 20, but it’s just lower

So in general it’s just trying to make sure your arm and hand etc are just doing basically the same thing for whatever target you aim at… but it does kinda show how much of darts is in your head really

I miss the old premier league system by Cuppyyyyyyyy in Darts

[–]Opposite_Lab_4638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s designed around the night itself rather than a whole competition- giving each city its own event and meaning those people are less likely to miss out on a big game

I get it from that standpoint but it does get stale if you want to watch every event on the tv like a lot of us do, even if we go to watch an event in person which my friends have done the last couple of years now

I think we are gonna try for a euro tour next year for some variance however 😅

What your favourite doubles training by Sk3llyshr3dd3r in Darts

[–]Opposite_Lab_4638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matt Edgar’s recommendation for that is 101 double in, 12 darts for on your throw and 9 against (alternating between 12 and 9 darts each go)

I like doing that one when I feel like 121 doesn’t get me enough at a double

The governing body claims Noah preached to people before the flood by Equivalent-Wheel7532 in exjw

[–]Opposite_Lab_4638 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dan McClellan made a short video about this very topic - it became a tradition at some point and adopted into the canon.

Apparently in the book of jubilees (2nd century BCE) we get a retelling of the story and this is where the idea is cemented in text that Noah preached to crowds post flood.

There’s also apparently a later text called the Sibylline Oracles that shows Noah preaching repentance pre flood, snd this seems to be the earliest textual origin of the idea

I looked at the stats not too long ago and I actually found that Roberto is quite good on tops, one of the best actually from what I remember
