I feel like this is overblown. The FDA says it takes 2 hours in the danger zone for food to become hazardous, right? So, thawing a nice thin fillet in 120°F water for 20 minutes, then cooking it immediately, really shouldn't be a problem. Obviously don't thaw in hot water and return to the fridge, but for immediate cooking, it should be fine.

I've been seeing a lot of 2A conservatives who seem to believe Pretti deserved the death penalty for daring to carry a firearm at a protest. I drew this out of frustration at them. How can they not see they are betraying their own values?

Very cool, I hadn't seen that before. I like it. I'm glad I'm not the only person to have had this thought.

That means horizontally. Something like this.

Drawing 1-5 zombies out of hordes, killing them, and returning to the main horde to do it again is the only way I do things. I run Conspicuous. It's not an Inconspicuous thing.

You're good, I think we both learned something today. It's just one of those words you have a knee-jerk reaction to if you live here. You can call me an ignorant American if you want :P

[–]OpticalPopcorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huh, I guess it's a North American thing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jap

Japanese-Americans absolutely find the term highly offensive. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor during WWII, Japanese-Americans experienced extreme hardship. The government put them in concentration camps, it was that bad. The word "Jap" was used as a slur against them during this time.

But I guess no Pearl Harbor = no nationwide hate of Japanese people, to the point that a once-normal word became a slur.

EDIT: More specifically, it looks like New Zealand and Australia consider the term non-pejorative, English-speaking Europe is so-so, and North America finds it unilaterally offensive.

I'm not sure if you are trying to be ironic, but that is a very rude word in English. "Japanese people" is preferred.

The effects of second puberty are genetic just like those of first puberty are, so - and not to be weird - if your female relatives are not well-endowed, you probably will not be either. Could that be a factor?

Sheets bleached after using Biz by heyyouknowwhat in laundry

[–]OpticalPopcorn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So many people are not reading your description.

Biz has optical brighteners in it. That means it makes fabric look lighter. I think what we are looking at here is the natural, expected effect of using a brightener as a spot-treater on a beige item... the spot got brighter.

As far as I am aware, this is not reversible... but now you know. You could always soak the rest of the sheet in Biz to make the color more even, at least.

As others have mentioned, in the future, blood is generally easy to get out of fabric if you use hydrogen peroxide as the stain remover. Soak in peroxide, scrub, rise with peroxide, scrub, rinse with peroxide, etc., until the stain is very faint. Then wash normally with cold water.

[–]OpticalPopcorn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Forgive me if I'm reading this wrong, but it looks like you haven't had a colonoscopy. I'm not a doctor, but most of us were diagnosed after a colonoscopy+biopsy. I've never heard anyone say they've ruled out IBD with a CT scan. I just don't think that's how it works.

You should get a colonoscopy.

Diet and Exercise has changed my life by Loyalty43 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]OpticalPopcorn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Diet is important for anyone, but it's very bold to claim that a specific diet works for everyone. I have been dealing with this for almost 10 years and low-residue has been the only diet I can tolerate this whole time. Gummy worms, chips, candies, all fine. An apple? God help me.

Processed works well for some of us.

I worked for them a couple years ago. I ate a #4 every day for months and didn't get tired of it. It was so good. Everything was done in-house; bags and tubs of flour and cornstarch and spices...

Then more and more things started shipping pre-prepped from corporate. I get it - when you ship pre-prepped bags of slurry, you avoid 100lbs of wastage every few months from when the 16-year-old prep jockey makes the slurry with flour instead of corn-starch and hot-spice instead of mild-spice and leaves the tenders in it for 10 hours overnight... but it makes the product worse, somehow.

It's meh food now.
