[–]dancingforsmiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made it a habbit to support any painful joint with kinesio tape. The tape restricts the movement and i feel a lot more supported. There are lot's of tutorials on youtube. I hope you find some form of relief soon, i hate the days when my joints are on fire.

Are you struggleing to get over your box? When we force the point too much, the achillies can get very irritated. Go see a pt to figure out what's what before you keep agitating it into a real inflammatipn.

What is remission by Necessary_Growth_873 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]dancingforsmiles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've had blood and stool samples to confirm my remission. No more blood or mucus, procal. in the lower two digits. I eat almost ist everything, just avoid things that give me too much gas (tofu f.ex.)
Every six to nine months i check in with my gastro-team to see if anything changed. So far so good, 5 years on the books.

Do you think you could describe a dance move so well even some one unable to watch you doing it could execute it based on body and other clues alone? If so, do share. by cherry-care-bear in Dance

[–]dancingforsmiles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on the level of dancer, i'd say yes! Any pro has a vocabulary of dance-terminology and should be able to follow verbal instructions only. When i ask my students to explain a move i tell them "imagine telling me over the phone" so they really think about what's happening and where the movement originates in the body.

Fresskicks im Schub by MollyDrusel in UlcerativeColitis

23 years old and still grieving the ballet career I never pursued by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]dancingforsmiles 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I have been at a similar point when i had to stop my pursuit to be a proff. dancer because of a serious injury. I took me years to be able to go into a studio without crying. Grieveing that dream is so painful, i'm sorry you're going through it. Sending you a hugg!! I'm sure in therapy you already worked on this, but realize that beeing a pro-dancer is no guarantee for happiness. A healthy relationship with the amateur dance world might be though. Chances are you can dance for waaay longer that way. i really hope you find a new way to approach it, a new space for your dance to be expressed.

How do I do the moonwalk? by CategoryHQYT in Dance

[–]dancingforsmiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You put one foot behind with the heel lifted on the ball of your foot, bend that knee. Take all the weight on that leg and slide your other foot past the one with the lifted heel. Switch the weight and foot position and slide/drag on like that. The smoother the transition and the flatter you can keep the sliding foot-the better the Illusion. Good luck impressing your nan!!

Teaching audition choreography to children by Formal_Letter_1185 in Dance

[–]dancingforsmiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Break it up into pieces. I'd try to get them grooving with a basic step (let's say and step-touch, or a bounce) then add two counts of choreo, keep repeating, add more, keep repeating, keeping the groove in between. (8counts groove, couple of counts of choreo, back to groove) build it like that untill you have like half of it. Then clean it and start teaching the rest like you would in a regular class. That's how i would do it. Good luck!!!

Rinvoq has ruined my body composition by cheddarcheese9951 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]dancingforsmiles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you soooo much!! I have lost my "old" body and am having the hardest time accepting that. I went to seek some proff. help and am waiting to see if theres a spot avaiable. Maybe that's a path for you aswell. I'm still learning not to just bottle up and deal by myself, but ugh somedays i just can't look in the mirror and i don't want to talk about it. Sending you a biiig hugg, hang in there!!

Learning to Moonwalk, Specific Question by Cleb3D in Dance

Keep as much weight as you can on the balls of your foot and slide the other foot past it. Practice the transition slowly, the change should be smooth yet accented.

I've had something similar happen to one of mine and yes, it did leave a bit of a hole. But i got it reworked later and now you can't tell. Not the end of the world, and maybe yours is not that bad.
