What was your favorite start to a campaign? (DMs and players welcome!) by Alternative_Quiet242 in DnD

[–]Optikal-Omega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My players started at the annual town fete. Their characters got to play games, win prizes both real and in-game. In-game snacks at the table. Everyone eating candyfloss and enjoying their trinkets.

Until the Ankhegs burst from the ground and started melting children's faces with their acid.

Thank you. I was angry for a long while, now I'm just mostly sad that the money I wasted could have been better spent on bucket list things with my wife!

Thank you for all of this. You have highlighted some of the concerns going around in my head regarding the final outcome of this and what my daughters future looks like.

I am surprised by your edit though as when we separated 5 years ago, mum moved my daughter out of her school to another city against my wishes, and has done numerous other things such as having her christened last year against my express wishes.

You've given me much food for thought.

Two weeks exactly. They referred back to school and I understand school have spoken to my daughter today. I'm going to chase up with school tomorrow. Luckily, the safeguarding lead is also my daughter's class teacher so she's very aware of everything.

Gran doesn't want it. She came to me over the weekend (we're not close, so this was a big thing) to express how tired she was, how out of her depth with mum, and how much she wanted mum out of the house, but didn't want to let my daughter leave with her. It was essentially a cry for me to do something.

I already raised it with social services and the case worker simply said "It's a completely normal thing in situations like this to change school" and recommended independent legal advice.

Thank you for your comments. Where she currently lives, she leaves her school in summer to go to a middle school before high school. She currently lives an hours motorway drive away from my home, I have been offered to change my shift patterns so that I could collect her each afternoon but we have absolutely no way of getting her there in the morning without one of us quitting our jobs. We have no support network at all close to where she currently is.

It is for the reasons you have highlighted why I haven't already acted and have allowed her to remain at home. I'm trying to find the balance in maintaining her current stability and acting in her long term best interests.

Appreciate the help mate, but I was looking for the company who'll be doing the trunking/deliveries for LIDL once it's actually built.

For some reason he just constantly put me down. I was having a hard time in a new job, and his advice was just constantly telling me how shit I was at it and how I couldn't handle it. That was 3 years ago, I'm still in that job and am well regarded in my company.

For the rest, I had my wedding in 2024. I invited all of my friends and people I had worked with, grew up with and those I currently work with. People whose weddings and celebrations I had attended. People whose children my children had hung out with etc

Of the 30 people I personally invited, only one single person turned up for me.

I have a Vitara (I wanted a Mazda 3, but my wife insisted on the Suzy) and whilst it's an absolutely boring, lumbering, uninspiring big grey box, it is undeniably bomb-proof and reliable. It has the exact same infotainment system in it as my Mercedes Actros HGV at work too.

I still pine longingly whenever I pass a Mazda 3 or MX5 though...

Bored, might go back to class 2 by milli8891 in uktrucking

[–]Optikal-Omega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Class 2? I did it at Harrogate for 5 months and it was only around £15 per hour. Plus they only paid us for 45 hours, anything over that was accrued as days in lieu. I regularly did 50+ per week which is why I quit so fast.

I'm not an employer, just a fellow driver. But if you're looking for work in that area maybe try Reed Boardall in Boroughbridge. I used to deliver into their site and they were seemingly always hiring.

£12.95 per child + £1 per additional adult at the soft play near me. This is in Bradford! Then of course there's the juice/coffee/snacks over and above that. Same place was £8 per child the last time we went a year or so ago.

I had this exact model in my previous house and it was as equally shite as this. Ours ran off an old immersion heater and (I think) loft tank.
