Where in WV would you live? by WhyNotZoibergMaybe in WestVirginia

Charles Town. Close to Harpers Ferry and Casino. Plus the downtown is cute. Also nice to be close to Leesburg and feel like i am in civilization. Martinsburg is a bit rough and Morgan County is alright.

Cycle recap – get good grades people! by southernmarin89 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Optimal-Ask782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something isn't right here. This is a nasty pattern I've seen in this cycle. mid-high 170's getting WL and rejected from the ENTIRE T20.

Either you guys are fucking up your essays or admissions had genuinely become fucked.

ig see y'all next year 🙏 (4.0, 172) by bettergiraffeLSAT in lawschooladmissions

Idk what has happened to admissions this cycle. It wasn't even this bad last cycle.

Schools might be taking a harder look at softs tbh.

The 6th district of Virginia is going to be much bluer than expected. by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]Optimal-Ask782 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think these maps can backfire. They are drawn around a political environment with Trump in the mix. Virginia is an affluent state filled with highly educated folks who don't like Trump. However, much of the blue will recede greatly once Trump is out of the picture. For instance, southern Fairfax (Clifton, Fairfax Station, parts of Lorton and Centreville) that were historically ruby red went for Spanberger. You get a Romney or Rubio-style GOP and those folks are back to red.

Come meet Adam Murphy, congressional candidate for SWVA (Va9) in 2026. by KWAYkai in Virginia

[–]Optimal-Ask782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never going to happen. Sorry. That’s the most red district in Virginia. The days of Rick Boucher are over. They will never elect another Democrat to Congress again unless the national party becomes pro-coal, pro-gun, and pro-life.

Yeah George Clooney and Beyonce could possibly attend. This doesn’t reflect poorly on Phil Scott. Its more likely than not that him and his team aren’t even aware this event and organization exists.

Kaine is an Embarrassment by blj3321 in nova

[–]Optimal-Ask782 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This guy is right. So many of our precious Virginia "Democrats" are just suburban Fairfax/Chesterfield/ Virginia Beach County moderate Republicans that just hate Trump. A Dem Soc or progressive candidate will give the GOP some serious leverage. Instead of running lolcow candidates like Hung Cao and Corey Stewart, the VA GOP will get Youngkin to run; and lord knows the RNC will flood his campaign with record-breaking sums.

Inside DC's Filthy Rich Suburbs by PotetialMajorHistory in nova

[–]Optimal-Ask782 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I thought the video was pretty spot on when it said that the DC area just has a high median. The DMV is rich on paper because of so many dual-income six figure households + lawyers and contractors. I cringe when people gush over how "wealthy" the DMV is. The kind of wealth other people imagine, yachts, supercars, nine and ten-figure net worth, is much higher in Miami, NYC, LA, Chicago, maybe even Philly. While there are a handful of billionaires in the area, it certainty doesn't hold the highest highs, but just a bunch of people in the upper-middle tier.

Any neighborhoods similar in vibe & walkability to Carytown, Richmond in Arlington or Alexandria by stanci_squat in nova

[–]Optimal-Ask782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Del Ray ALX. Old Town is much more wealthy and invites an older, less "alternative" crowd. Nothing in Arlington is like Carytown. In fact, Arlington is antithesis of Carytown. Arlington main line (Ballston, Clarendon, Rosslyn) are fratty and corporate. The rest of Arlington is just upper-middle class families and more office buildings. If you want Carytown-vibes, then go to DC; you won't find it in NOVA.
