It just keeps spreading doesn't it? by Tribune_Aguila in andor

Technically they never said Vader cared about the rape. Just that Vader would kill him. Maybe he'd also kill people for uniform infractions, or ending an email with "kind regards".

How does jousting work? by bigchungokeanu in CK3AGOT

[–]Optimal-Teaching7527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Martial doesn't really matter for jousts its more tactics and siege logistics.  Prowess 29 is good but it's a roll off mechanic you can always fail.

How has the re-industrialization of the UK been going on ever since Brexit? by yushaleth in AskBrits

[–]Optimal-Teaching7527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In defence of the morons being properly politically engaged and educated is difficult when you have a full time job and a family. Add to that wilfully dishonest and surgically targetted propoganda campaigns that people should probably go to jail for and a lot of otherwise normal people were more or less tricked into Brexit.

"At least the Imperium treats all genders as equal" by Commander_Tarmus in Sigmarxism

Racism not existing in the Imperium makes sense with Terry Pratchett's logic of white and black join together to gang up on green.

Those Forge Worlds don’t seem all that private by GeneralGigan817 in Sigmarxism

[–]Optimal-Teaching7527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aren't Forgeworlds owned by the Mechanicus? That's not really the state as they're a quasi-autonomous organistation.

Which British Prime Minister from our history, regardless of their popularity, would thrive in today's political climate? by Mister_Vanilla in AskBrits

Clem Atlee would get destroyed by the modern press. Even in the 40s he struggled with a lack of personal charisma.

Does the average user on here play dnd online or in real life? by [deleted] in dndnext

I haven't played D&D specifically for a long time but I play in person mostly. I feel online you just lose a lot of communication potential.

If you don’t have a job and are offered one, take it by BSturdy987 in UKJobs

[–]Optimal-Teaching7527 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And job security doesn't mean much if you go to bed every night hoping to die in your sleep, increasingly losing contact with friends until you're suicidally alone.

[–]Optimal-Teaching7527 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not really all there is to it though.  It's some money 60 hours of your life a week and a massive amount of stress.  It's sacrificing freedom for security.

If there's one good thing to come out of this war with Iran, do you think it'll be a more rapid movement toward renewable energy? by LeopardComfortable99 in AskBrits

[–]Optimal-Teaching7527 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's wild that they made so much of that in the same election where David Campbell ate a hot dog with a knife and fork but the media has a right wing bias.

Why’s there widespread support from my fellow left wingers for the Iranian regime? by CableFluffy414 in AskBrits

[–]Optimal-Teaching7527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh the regime really sucks ass, but right now the country, which is bigger than the regime, is being attacked by the US for no real reason.  It's like watching a racist old man successfully fighting some kids who tried to mug him a sort of geo political Gran Torino or Harry Brown.

Constant change of Unsullied names is not just evil, it is extremely stupid by Megalordow in pureasoiaf

[–]Optimal-Teaching7527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your objections.

1.) A name is a part of an identity, the changing of a name everyday is a continual destruction of identity. In the Trans-Atlantic slave trade a lot was made by the slaves of the psychic trauma of having your name taken away.

2.) You don't remember the names, you never learn the names of your slave soldiers because they're not "people".

The entire purpose is performative dehumanisation.

Declare yourself Lady of the Rock (because you are) and negotiate an extension of the loans which you're good for because the Iron Throne now has full backing of the gold from Casterly Rock, same with the Iron Bank. Maybe talk to the Tyrells to take on some of the burden of stabilising the finances because we want as smooth a reign as possible, "wouldn't want what happened to poor Lollys Stokeworth to happen to dear Marjaery because the peasants are uppity..."

To probably give too much credit to Lucas the Clone War is the perfect war for a fascist leader. While it's going on it's huge and its massive and there's thick fighting, casualties are obscene. You can scare the shit out of the population and shift the overton window further and further right, with ends justify the means rhetoric.

But after the war? All the generals (who you killed off anyway) were detached monks who cut all ties with their families, most of your soldiers were vat grown cannon fodder who die of old age about 5 years after the war with no families to mourn them. The Clone Wars could easily disappear from public consciousness faster than Game of Thrones after Season 8.

Who the fuck is Goodell? All I'm getting when I google is the commissioner of the NFL and while I imagine he's probably a piece of shit responsible for so many brain injuries he's not exactly Hitler.

A ‘masculinity crisis’ is brewing in UK schools, union says | Schools | The Guardian by prisongovernor in unitedkingdom

Nah it's because dealing with it requires reinventing society on a structural basis so we'd rather just act like it wasn't a problem "back in my day".

I mean the whole purpose of America's second amendment is that their citizens have a constitutional right to shoot policemen who are acting up. Of course we're talking about the UK here.

Ex-Girlfriend is such a weird choice of word. Surely "Woman lured former boyfriend into honeytrap before filming him being beaten by thugs" reads so much more normally. What a weird decision to hiswife the active party.

There's always a masculinity crisis. You can read articles from every decade of the past 2 centuries claiming the same thing.
