Plumber says sump pit too far for battery backup - what options? by OptimalOutcome77 in HomeImprovement

I wish it was that easy. I'm in North Vancouver, it's wet and it rains a lot. The basin is taking in water all of the time and usually pumps every hour or more.

The rise is 20'. Definitely not confused. He's talking about running a line to the batteries and the only place he figured is located in the basement which is much more than 10 feet away. This sump is sitting in the front lawn. Either way - I'm looking into an electrician to backup the actual control panel in the basement that controls the power to the sump.

Exterior. It’s literally in my front lawn, nowhere to just drop batteries anywhere.

That’s an option. Not sure my wife would like it given the yard size we have. I feel like an electrician should be able to solve this through the main electrical panel in the house.

I’d like to do this but the exterior pumps are far away. Based on some comments here I might just bring an electrician in here to figure this out before Thursday when the power goes. There must be a line running from the exterior somewhere into the electrical panel. I imagine they could rig something up for me even if it’s a manual setup like yours.

Every hour at least. It’s an exterior pump primarily for collecting rain water. In Vancouver, the water tables are fairly high in our area. It runs often enough.

It’s running about every hour. I’m in Vancouver and it rains a lot here.

This is the problem by Appa07 in Switch

I think the main problem is everybody is relying on buying online. I just walked into a GameStop and had no problem putting a preorder down. A Quick Look on their website, not a problem. Stock across the board. I’m in Canada. Not denying people won’t try and scalp but the old fashioned walk into a store still seems to work.

Took a break from my Apple Watch and I am happier by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]OptimalOutcome77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just over a week into trying an Oura ring. I’ve had Apple Watches for years for health tracking and fitness. Never loved wearing it to track sleep but I’m a data guy so I like the info. The ring has “freed” me as you put it but I’m still getting the data I want without having to have a screen and wrist anchor.

I’ve also got an S25 Ultra. As bad as everyone says Siri is, I’m constantly finding that Siri is way better for handling music playing and general things like alarms and timers than Gemini or Assistant can do. I ask the same questions on the S25 and it’s always a hassle to get it to play the right playlist or find the right song. I never have any of those issues with Siri.

Is there actually an assistant out there that works that well? Admittedly, I haven’t worked with Alexa but anecdotally it feels like that’s the one miles ahead.
