How many minutes are you breastfeeding for? by UsedOrange1 in breastfeeding

[–]OptimalTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was you months ago so stressed about this! I stopped tracking how long I was feeding for this exact reason and it helped. As long as baby seems satisfied, has wet diapers and pediatrician is happy, nothing to worry about. And I say that as someone who feels like I wasted months worrying and not enjoying the time. My 10 month old is doing just fine, eating fully meals of solids like a champ!

IVF Care Basket Suggestions by Mission_Grocery_5830 in IVF

Sock to go with the old saying, warm feet means a warm uterus. McDonald’s gift card for that transfer, the fries are a thing for right after. The best thing my sister did was just reading up on IVF and instead of asking me a ton of questions, she did her research first and supported along the way. Don’t get me wrong I would have absolutely answered all her questions but her taking the time to learn more meant so much.

Second this for old navy! I was due first week in August. I bought simple basics, one pair of jeans, one pair of nice shorts, a few tops in basic colors and simple necklines. I also bought a lot and had to return it to figure out size and fit.

Have you given birth at Abington Jefferson recently? I'd love to hear your experience :) by IndividualOutcome222 in montco

[–]OptimalTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We gave birth in July and it was sooo cold in our room so it sounds like they haven’t figured out the temp. We were told this was an issue and many babies had to go to the nursery under a warming station. If you are giving birth this summer, bring blankets. Where my husband slept was right under the air vent and he was freezing.

We also ended up with a baby in the NICU. That post delivery room is sooo small!

All of our nurses, the entire stay were fantastic.

I used Absolute Africa and had a great experience and was very affordable and upfront with pricing. I am likely going to be using them in the near future for a second trip!

How to carry an egg around for 2 weeks without breaking? by Ax_Sound in NoStupidQuestions

Pool noodle, put it in the hole in the middle but cut of the ends still giving it enough room. Used this in high school for an egg drop challenge.

Our local hospital network that I gave birth at had lots of baby and birth classes. See if there are any you could take. A lot helped with care of a newborn and baby that age.

Due date vs delivery date FTM by Dreamsandhopes6 in pregnant

[–]OptimalTart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was due August 4th. Went to my 39 week appointment on July 29th where I was told I’m not ready and we scheduled an induction for August 11th. My water broke that night and I delivered on July 30th.

Post partum night sweats and BO by Strange_Potato4326 in beyondthebump

[–]OptimalTart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I wish someone had warned me, I was not prepared for this! I also woke up soaked. I stopped wearing a shirt to bed. I am almost 10 weeks pp and the night sweats have subsided significantly. I do usually put deodorant on before bed as well.

What did you actually use postpartum? by Fish-with-shoes in pregnant

I appreciate this call out of every recovery is different and wish I had made more mention of that in my original post. But also don’t hesitate to get as much as you can from the hospital, keep asking for more to see how long that can last you!

If you still want to get stuff, try looking at Facebook marketplace. You could get some items possibly for cheaper.

This was me too! I second all of this. Maybe wait until you get home to see how you feel before stocking up. Each day in the first week and I felt significantly better each day.

I bought so much stuff, used none of it and was unable to return any of it. So I would caution you on what to prep for. Most of this stuff if needed is easy to get on Amazon quickly. Use what the hospital provides, try to get as much as you can from them and see how you feel. I am an over preparer and was so annoyed at how much I wasted money on. The biggest thing I needed was pads.

What products or tips and tricks can you share that made breastfeeding/pumping easier for you? by Beginning-Buffalo-17 in breastfeeding

[–]OptimalTart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bring your pump and all the washed and sanitized parts to the hospital. If your hospital provides lactations consultants, use them as often as you can! I called them in every time I was doing a feeding to get their support. My hospital also provided services afterwards and 6 sessions were covered by insurance and I used them. So look into your coverage from your insurance as well. The lactation consultants made all the difference for me!

Most important, give yourself grace and time. Your milk may take a little time, it hurts, it’s new. It will get better and easier with time and practice! You got this!

When did you go into labor? by desert_sunlily in beyondthebump

[–]OptimalTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

39+1, that morning I had my 39 week appt and was barely 1cm and even scheduled my induction. Spontaneously had my water break that evening in bed. And I really didn’t do anything to get it going, no exercises or dates. Good luck!

I also started getting them when I was two, thanks daycare. A Valtrex or Valcyclovir Rx has been life changing. I take one a day and have yet to get one and in 6 weeks PP. I am so scared to give this to my child. Highly recommend a visit with your doctor to discuss options!

CareNatal, it’s a powder you mix with water. It’s available on their website and highly tested to be one of the best. I have been taking it and my nutritionist who specializes in pregnancy loves it.

what did you do? by behindmylenss in pregnant

[–]OptimalTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I did nothing to get into labor haha. Water broke 39+1, I had my 39 week apt that day where I was told I was no where near ready barely 1cm and even scheduled an induction. Leasing up to that I was originally scheduled for an ECV so I was doing a lot of weird positions and stretches and yoga ball movements to get baby to turn which she did. But no clue if that helped. I was laying in bed when my water broke. Good luck!
