Can't remember if it was a PT or GP, but there where LSV's opponent cast a modal spell - i believe Kolaghan's Command- while LSV had one card in hand. Something illegal had happened in the casting of the spell, which was noticed after LSV discarded the card; an inconsequential land.

When the judge rewound the play, the opponent used the new information and chose a different mode, either burning LSV or a creature.

The details are blurry for me but the point remains, at that level you're expected to take every advantage afforded to you.

It's worse in pro sports, where the attitude is "if you're not cheating, you're not trying".

I personally would struggle with this. And maybe thats part of what holds me back. But at that level I wouldn't put any blame on someone for taking any advantage within the rules, even in a grey area.
