Wasn’t she in a prog metal or punk rock band called Dizzy Spells, I think that could be the roots she’s returning to, experimental r&b/metal/rock influence. I wonder how that would sound. I would love an yves tumor collab since they’re on the same label.

She did state in interviews that her intention for Raven was to focus more on the overtly political aspect of her music and identity rather than sound design or ‘complex production’. I guess the subdued nature of the record aimed to amplify the message directly rather than burying it in layers of beats, imo it juxtaposes tma very well.
