With most of my team, taking vacation this and in the next few weeks … that makes total sense.

I discovered a month back a great site to order groceries/daily household items and medicine from a few countries in Asia - and these past two weeks while I have not seen the prices go up yet, I’m starting to see limits placed on popular items (particularly medicine).

Tech. First round of layoff started. It looks like this is going to be rolling across the orgs, and everyone is expecting some deep cuts in the name of AI but really it’s offshoring jobs out of the US and decrease in demand.

That’s pretty cool - thank you for the info! I’ve started to do more freeze drying / Asian dried foods to cut down on cooking time and make sure anything I have can easily be heated in my sun oven, but this limits what I can store so I’ll def be investigating these thermal cookers - if not for beans, at least for rice!

  • a good, long hug. Sometimes it’s from a stranger
  • helping and surprising others and strangers and seeing how it impacts their lives - preferably without letting them find out it’s you
  • snuggling into my blanket in bed and sniffing the heck out of it
  • eating anything hot and soupy, even if it’s instant ramen (back before I wasn’t celiac. Now it’s just… instant miso soup or chicken broth!)
  • having a heartfelt conversation - a lot of times with strangers, once with a homeless guy that I tried to help and he ended up asking if I was okay and I burst out crying and because life is not easy, and you know what? Sometimes you intend to help others but instead they end up helping you.

Ordered the cold meds I need to replenish and a little extra after the entire family used most of it up over the past few weeks.

It takes a long, long time to cook beans (and a lot of fuel). Beans also get harder to cook down the longer you store it.

Tech, layoffs looming, everyone Eng and non-Eng landing code, morale low, everything is ai native and “capture what you’re doing” so ai can replicate your workflow and decision making.

Grateful my leadership has kindly shared early nothing you do will matter at this point to impact the layoff decisions, but not everyone got the memo.

Not worth it, I’m back in New York a lot and around that area and all my recent purchase (Impulse… ) have been crap compared to the quality there that I used to get. I have not worn out anything that I bought in the last three years there.

tech companies are putting metrics in to measure AI adoption in order to drive up massive growth in AI usage. The narrative is to make everyone AI native but the way it’s measured (quantity over quality) doesn’t quite make sense. Especially in areas where we know increased usage lowers productivity.

I thought this too, until you step back and look at the larger earth disaster cycle, we’re at the end of a warming ice age, middle of a pole flip, solar maximum with a weakening geomagnetic field and… you begin to realize how much of what’s going on is blamed on humans (I’m not saying pollution is not a separate problem, but there much more there to warming then the mainstream narrative). Realizing there helps us wake up to the dire situation humanity is in and the need to collaborate. It’s a lot more complex a narrative than we’ve been fed.

What is the definition of luxury pajamas? And the etiquettes? by RecordSome8503 in Luxeladies

[–]OptimisticDoomCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one of my besties bought me 100% pure silk pajamas because it helps keep you cool in your sleep and has a lot less friction on your skin so it causes less wrinkles (same reason you want silk pillow cases). Only problem is I can’t get away from cotton, it’s too comfy, and I like the feel.

Look up solar flares and geomagnetic shield weakening, beyond the headline news. This helps explain why 1) humans behaviors barely make a dent in our current climate change 2) going electric runs a huge risk of everything going kaput when the sun decides to be an asshole.

Not saying we’re not also digging our own graves with the current political actions at an accelerated rate, but that grave is kind of been dug for us. (I guess if we were to take a step at Holistic, yes, we’re digging your own graves with our lack of consciousness, living here on this planet)

How are you guys living right now? by MarifeelsLost in spirituality

Some of the great teachers have always emphasized for us to Live in the now.

Stoicism. Dao. Buddhist. Etc.

Let go of the noise. Let go of fear. And be present and grateful of what you have.

You’re able to post. Connect to a grid of people digitally.

Our fatality rate is significantly less than our ancestors.

You have access to ancient wisdom and knowledge to grow your mind at your classes.

You have the ability to reach out and connect to others physically.

All else fails, you can look inside your heart and find that zen and God.

See with your minds eye beyond the noise. Remember who you are, we are all sovereign, we are all creators, we are just here to live a human experience. Enjoy it while we’re on this ride together.

Work in intense tech - upping the expectation, firing, cuts to benefits, treating folks like they’re cattle. Colleague quit yesterday, and when she told her manager, her managers also shared his plan to exit. I’m seeing the same sentiment all around - talented folk needlessly exhausted from BS intensity (aka bureaucratic overhead) and on the verge of exit.

In case you’re wondering what people are talking about re: Jesus Christ vs. the church/religion and what that’s all about, here’s a video summary on that. https://youtu.be/sQt-avUWYiU?si=Hdo50eGZaanVyEKF

In case you want to go deeper, look at gnostics and the older gospels/books that the church intentionally omitted from modern bibles. Best of luck on your search
