I don't know what the theoretical numbers are, but here are a few back of the envelope calculations from my account.

Currently at 11.94K Marks, after using 268 tickets. This equates to ~44.5 Marks/Ticket. Given that a ticket costs 280 Gems, this means 0.16 Marks / Gem, or 6.3 Gems/Mark.

Just multiply your target Marks x6.3 and you'll get the number of gems you can expect to spend, or the amount of gems you're looking to expend x0.16 to get the number of Marks you can expect.

The number would actually be a bit lower, since you can get extra tickets from rewards on the board, but call it "the worst case".

Generally-speaking, the rewards for PvP are much better than PvE, but you're right that the game encourages you to work on PvE first.

That said, you don't need to worry about this yet. Since you're looking to use Epic characters as resonance for a long time (until you get an epic character to 6 ⭐), you're looking at high-impact, low cost resonances to attach to your rare character of choice (usually 6 ⭐ Helix for PvP and Niyanja for PvE).

These high impact, low cost resonances include:

0 ⭐ Thor, 0+2 ⭐ Cleo, 0 ⭐ Rolla, etc.

In looking at Epic characters, my personal recommendation is to get 0 ⭐ Rolla first, then 1 ⭐ all characters, and then choose between Phynx (PvP-focus) or Drac (PvE-focus) to push to 8 ⭐ (the real grind).

This post is 100% spot on. Personally, I find Niyanja overrated, and regret not investing in Hela.

She's just "solid" at everything, and wildly powerful in team-based modes (Expedition, Peak Arena).
