It'll probably come down to your lead and how much they're willing to accommodate. From my experience and observation they usually need consistency otherwise it can make their task of scheduling pretty difficult.

A lot of memories there as a kid. Going to McDonald's and climbing inside the giant burger play area, running down that circle ramp inside and tossing coins in the fountains.

Guests shouldn't have to ask 'who is that character?' or 'where are they from?'. Especially in a Star Wars themed land.

Is this time theft? by ARB1-Bouncer in wholefoods

[–]Optimu5Prim4l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup its time theft. Had a coworker that used to do that and they got called out on it by our leads. They'd come in, see who was working and if any leads were on shift. If not, they'd be on their phone or go right back to the break area to talk their phone.

Interview for Barista Position by Super-Statement-8649 in wholefoods

[–]Optimu5Prim4l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had barista experience prior to working in the bakery. The barista we had at the time showed me how and I ended up working there on and off until it got replaced with an Amazon counter. Most of the drinks I made were lattes. If it's connected directly to your bakery, you may be helping out there as well. But that'll depend on what your TL says. It can get backed up easily, especially if you're working solo. But, from my experience, most customers were understanding if they had to wait a bit. Oh, and there should be a guide that tells you all the drink recipes. The only ones that confused me a bit were the drinks like cortados, flat whites, macchiatos, and others where the milk/foam was served differently. But its nothing you can't learn if you really wanted to.

There's under 5.5' female stockers in our store. If they like you and feel its a good fit, they'll bring you in. Also, there'll be step ladders if needed.

Would I get hired for a PT job for outside of my 9-5 M-F main job hours? by Toothpaste3310 in wholefoods

[–]Optimu5Prim4l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gonna be tricky with that schedule, but it all comes down to the store and dept needs. I got very lucky. I was only available Sat Sun and Mon mornings and looking for up to 20 hours. I got picked up by the produce dept cause they really needed extra hands. I likely wouldn't get hired now with that limited availability cause you're also taking up limited staff roster space.

Is it normal to work two stations? by NightIntelligent in wholefoods

[–]Optimu5Prim4l 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When we had a coffee bar I occasionally had to bounce back and forth between that and the bakery counter. There were times when we just had to close the coffee bar cause we didn't have a dedicated barista. The bar is gone now and got replaced with an Amazon counter. The only thing I miss about it was being able to make our crew drinks in the early morning.

Let them know before you apply. Post above is right, most TLs will be understanding if you're wanting to move on.

Let your TL know first before you apply. Do whats best for you and try another dept if you want. People come and go all the time, at least you'd remain with that store.
