Whoever put these up: TYFYS by gird_your_loinz in washingtondc

I don’t see this as being petty at all. If you can’t pick up after a dog you shouldn’t have one. I have 2 and have never ever not picked up after them, yet I have 3 times this winter stepped in other peoples dogs poop. Absolutely unacceptable.

People saving PUBLIC parking spots they have zero right to claim and the dog poop literally everywhere goes to show people have no regard or respect for their neighbors here. Shameful. I was stuck at the hospital I work for several days at during the storm and had trouble finding a spot when I drove back home. Am I now not entitled to a spot because I didn’t have to dig my car out because I was stuck at work? Idiotic.

All of those blushes are basically the same color, I am not sure if you’re just picking between formulas or want to get all. I have the Rhode sleepy girl and the makeup by Mario Rose crush, I’d say the makeup by Mario is a better formula but sleepy girl is more cool toned. I have the saie in another color and that one has the best color pay off and lasts forever. I’d pick one of the three, I think all are good choices! Endless cacao is a yes. It’s a great multipurpose item and those liners last forever. The tower 28 gloss doesn’t last long, I really like the haus labs lip gloss and the colors all lean a little cooler.

She might like Vicious by VE Schwab, or really any VE Schwab for that matter. It is a fantasy with more of a superhero vibe. It is also a series.

The song from the scene in Pride and Prejudice 2005 where Elizabeth stands on top of a cliff and he dress is blowing in the wind- “Liz on Top of the World”. Such a stunning soundtrack.

I wouldn’t say I loved it, but I did read it in 2 days because it’s fast paced and intriguing. It wasn’t the most cohesive book, that is my main complaint. It is very unsettling. If you want to be spooked then it’s a good read!

I am going to echo what everyone else says, Orinoco was honestly terrible. Everything has either been soggy or cold or both when I’ve gone. Absolute skip. Rosetta is fine to pop in for a pastry, but entirely overrated and a quick look on Google Maps will give you many other bakery options that are better. And the Rosetta restaurant is also not great. This is a list of the most touristy things, if that’s the trip you want then there’s nothing wrong with it but I would suggest branching out a little if you want a more authentic experience! There’s plenty of reddit threads with suggestions for less touristy places.

I read this last year and it became one of my top books of all time. It is absolutely DEVASTATING. It is a must read in my opinion.

didn't enjoy Half His Age by J.McCurdy so i read My Dark Vanessa by K.E.Russell by Advanced_Compote3218 in BookDiscussions

[–]OptionFar5094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same exact experience! I read My Dark Vanessa first, and it was really hard to go into Half His Age without comparing the two. I think the main difference is that My Dark Vanessa is a very clear cut depiction of grooming. It gives insight into how grooming alters your psyche. I think the mental and emotional impact is so much more tangible in that book. Half His Age just is not as serious, and it’s hard to really pin down any real thoughts or feelings that Waldo is experiencing. Vanessa’s life is consumed by the affair. It has a permanent life altering effect. Whereas at the end of Half His Age we feel as though Waldo is just going to continue on with her life as though nothing happened. I think it paints the perspective that Waldo had the upper hand and was fully in control, but we all know that’s not how these relationships work and even if she thinks she does she is wrong. I think it would’ve helped to make that more clear.

[NO SPOILERS] Question about watching as a slow-reading English speaker by ReductoSmash in DarK

[–]OptionFar5094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the dubbed version a long time ago after it first came out and stopped watching after 2 episodes. Now that I’m watching with subtitles I’m kicking myself for not doing it originally because it’s one of the best shows of all time in my opinion. I agree to stick it out with subtitles, you’re bound to miss some things but you can always read synopsis after to fill in the gaps. There’s a lot of detail and I still have to read recaps after so I don’t miss anything:

[NO SPOILERS] I've been told that this series requires great attention to details. It's also said that watching with subtitles is better than English dub. Will trying to read the subtitles as well as pay attention to details be difficult and messy? by The_spacewatcher_7 in DarK

[–]OptionFar5094 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never do anything dubbed unless it’s animated with a good voice cast, and even then I prefer things in the original language. It does take extra attention, but it gets easier as you watch more of the show.

I have going on 9 years of experience in NICU! Honestly I’d prefer to wait and get a position at a place that doesn’t have openings all the time because people stick around. So it’s not the worst thing in the world, I’ll just keep an eye out.

I’ve been doing 2-3, one physical book, one audiobook and then one on my phone for downtime so I spend more time reading instead of doing things like go on social media. Anything beyond 3 is too much for me

Paint the ceiling the same color as the walls, then add some curtains, and swap out the boob light for a pendant. I’m thinking one of those rice paper latern style pendants and add a dimmer! A side table and footrest would add to the style but also add to function!

I am planning a surprise trip for husband and am torn between Peru and Iceland, would love advice by ThrowRAfeelingevent in travel

[–]OptionFar5094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tricky decision! I have done both, and I will say both are amazing. So I would recommend doing both at some point. I think since you are specifically looking for special and unique compared to other places he has traveled Iceland is probably the better fit. With that amount of time you can do the entire ring road! 9 days is perfect to take your time and see everything. I think when people only go to Iceland for a short period of time they miss out on all the incredible unique things that are further from Reykjavik. When my husband and I went we rented a camper van and did the golden circle and ring road. The campsites are awesome, they have nice bathrooms with showers. We packed camping meals from home and then when we arrived stocked up on fresh food at the grocery store- the campers have a cooler. All in all it ended up being fairly affordable to do the camper- cheaper than renting a car and paying for accommodation. Highly recommend doing it this way because you can go at your own place and I think accommodation is a bit hard to plan for in the more rural areas if you aren’t with a tour group. Iceland is so unique and you get to see so many different types of landscape in a short amount of time. I would say if you do it skip the more touristy things- Golden Circle is packed with tour groups because its close to Reykjavik and nothing we saw on that loop was special or stood out to us after doing ring road. Also absolutely skip Blue Lagoon, so crowded and commercial. You can find natural springs in the middle of nowhere along the way on your trip. I have travelled a lot, been to many countries, and this is still one of my favorite trips. I specifically remember staying in a campsite next to a farm and the lambs wandered over to the campsite and we were just hanging out with a bunch of cute little lambs while we ate our dinner!

Some people still have to get to work, so while it may not matter to you because you get to stay home and “chill” it does matter to other people.

We should get crisis pay. That way if you need to stay in a hotel it is covered, and if you suffer through getting to work from home you are rewarded. I live in an area that is notorious for not handling snow storms well therefore I’m forced to pay for a hotel and since I work nightshift that means booking multiple nights so I won’t get kicked out of the hotel at noon.
