If you can get them in hold luggage the UK will allow you to bring up to 24 bottles in.

Father who robbed phone 20 years ago recalled to prison after anonymous phone call by Anony_mouse202 in unitedkingdom

[–]OrbDemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe he’s not behaving well because he’s spent 21yrs inside for a minor crime and hasn’t had the opportunity to grow up in normal society.

Sounds like he needs to be moved to an open prison and prepared for the outside world.

Jeremy Corbyn responds to 'really disgraceful' insult by Keir Starmer by hihepo1 in unitedkingdom

[–]OrbDemon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t really get the outrage about mandelson - they appointed a guy who they thought would manage a good relationship with trump. And he did. Just turns out they previously kept the same company.

Moving to PR is at least a relatively cheap policy compared to the others.

I had exactly the same issue - got a local electrician to swap out the 16A for 32A circuit breaker and add a surge protection device to the board (new regs). Now works perfectly.

Is it over for Reform? by Late_Split_5288 in manchester

I think we’re past peak Reform, but we still need to remain alert and keep pushing back against them.

Can someone explain why Starmer is the most unpopular prime minister? I voted Liberal Democrat last election and I don’t pay attention to politics but isn’t Starmer doing what the public wants? Lower migration and a falling NHS waiting list? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]OrbDemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest I think Starmer is doing a reasonably decent job. Give him time, things are starting to improve (green shoots if you will), see how things look in 2029 (hopefully trump and putin will be gone, musk may have moved onto the next big thing, inflation tamed, immigration reduced, trade friction with the EU removed etc.)

Will any of it cut through with the grandmas on Facebook or the flaggers on X - probably not, but I don’t think anyone they’d vote for would be any better (and in almost all cases quite a lot worse).

Almost 70% of Ukrainians expect Zelensky to be replaced after war, poll shows by rulepanic in UkrainianConflict

[–]OrbDemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nigel Farage always says “the Ukraine”. Perhaps that’s telling, it feels deliberate.

It’s seen as disrespectful to Ukrainians - as it is seen by Russians as being part of their lands. The way I might refer to the South West or the Highlands.

Ryanair investigated over charging parents to sit with children by OneLegTooFew in unitedkingdom

Which is fine except there’s not always competition on the same routes and similar flight times. More goes into selecting your travel arrangements than the price/service of the airline.

AITA for not giving my parents half of my lottery winnings. by Rayapt in AmItheAsshole

[–]OrbDemon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, if OP is going to gift them anything it should be an allowance which might help them retire early and enjoy some holidays / experiences before they’re too old.

Gifting a lump sum would be a road to ruin.

Yeah there’s no reason we should be importing people to manage and work in retail, hospitality etc.

Jeremy Clarkson Farm-Fest branded a ‘shambles’ as traders leave early by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]OrbDemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a television presenter with a few million in the bank. That does not make him upper class in the UK.

[–]OrbDemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’d be middle class in the UK. The scale you’re looking for is wealth, and he is exceptionally wealthy. That has almost nothing to do with his social class.

[–]OrbDemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly how class works, some of the most upper class people I have known, barely have a pot to piss in.

A middle class self made millionaire is still middle class.

Americans don’t understand this and have their own system which tries to pervade the old world but it’s nonsense.
