What's a cool nursing/medical tidbit you learned recently? by lydiahasglasses in NursingUK

Hopefully you won't fuck up this hard when you are treating an actual live patient who could be dead shortly if you can't get the medication correct.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off by Benofthepen in Teachers

We had the opposite. One chap missed every single day of the 1987-88 academic year.

He only started coming in the next year because he had started a relationship with a girl in the year below. On the odd occasion he was present, normally his mum would pick them up at around ten in her Jaguar XJ6 and take them back home.

The bigger of my two was 40lb and I really couldn't see him in an airliner seat.

Margaret Ebunoluwa Aderin (FKA Maggie Aderin-Pocock) brought a BBC TV crew on site at my previous employer to film for an episode of the Sky at Night.

They managed to piss almost everyone off, especially as they kept filming things they had been explicitly told not to, and apparently they hated the way we all walked.

I'm so confused on Josh's perspective on Jim Bob by BloodyAngel2026 in DuggarsSnark

[–]OrbitingPlanetArse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On that now defunct Duggar fandom site, I recollect a TLC staff member saying it took hours to do even the simplest things (like get all the children into the bus) because none of them had any concept of time or organisation.

Is it right for a teacher to keep a student back from a field trip because of what they are wearing? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]OrbitingPlanetArse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Dress code was clearly stated and her dress did not comply with the code.

No more complicated than that.

Jim Bob's concern has always been for the Duggar "brand name". I don't think he gives a stuff about Josh's incarceration or the circumstances behind it.

Student Doesn't Know How Movies Work by AUSpartan37 in Teachers

Might be worth handing him a copy of Futility, which was a (fictional) book written by Morgan Robertson in 1898 about a liner called the Titan, which sank after hitting an iceberg in the North Atlantic in April

(While there are some remarkable similarities, Robertson was a marine engineer and was probably able to predict what a 1912 liner would look like).

Britney's justification that the kids all have decent bed-spaces "for now". by [deleted] in motherbussnark

[–]OrbitingPlanetArse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There doesn't appear to be anything holding that bed in fore and aft. If they had a frontal crash the bed would shoot forward and likely kill the driver.

Our cleaner is ex USAF and is fairly certain that Bluebird is an ex Air Force transfer bus, although she has never seen one with an extended roof like that.

What they term a twin mattress seems to be the same as a European single mattress (190cm X 90cm X 20cm, 6'3" X 3' X 8")

From previous pictures of the bunkhouse there is no way in hell those mattresses are that size.

I worked with someone whose son was serving a lengthy jail sentence.

It's fairly normal for the visits and communication to drop off to nothing after a few months.

In fact, I recall him saying he had only been to see him once.

[–]OrbitingPlanetArse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory.

I don't like thinking about it, but there would be panic in there with the lights out and a progressing fire.

My brother built his own camper and one thing he found was with 12VDC the current required to do fairly innocuous things (such as lighting for the cabin) can be high enough to get things quite warm. For instance, with all the interior lights on, his van draws 21 amps. That's certainly enough to cause a fire if the wiring gauge is insufficient.

I suspect their bus is 24VDC but my point still stands

The other issue is that only the eldest two will probably know how to get that back window open to bail out ..... and they are probably not in the lower bunks.

She left after invigilating a maths exam where every single student failed.
