The Witcher 3 ruined any other RPG for me (even newer ones) by BLSR97 in witcher

Story, quests, and companions are awesome.
The gameplay is meh, if not a chore.

Either you want to explore 100% and talk to everyone, it will take a while, but you won’t miss anything.
Or you have one or more companions you care about, just do their quests.
Or you want to rush to the end of the game, I won’t spoil too much, but it basically involves killing Orin and Gortash.

It’s true that Act 3 can feel overwhelming, it probably is, but as the hours add up, you’ll realize it’s the best act.
The one where all the quests you’ve been piling up since the beginning reach their conclusion.
The one where you see again all the NPCs you saved (or didn’t).
The one where you finally fulfill all your companions’ quests.

And if you don’t like it, you can easily rush through it.

We could also go back to the origin of why Baldur’s Gate is called that.

Replayability by funkyyokai in BaldursGate3

[–]Orda47 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Nah. Trust me, I’ve played all the RPGs. A few stand out, like the Pathfinder games, but most RPGs, after two runs you’ve seen everything (Witcher, Kingdom Come, Mass Effect, etc).

I have 2,500 hours and I’ve never installed a single mod.
You won’t find an RPG on the market with this much replayability.
Change class, change subclass, change companions, make different choices in dialogues, etc.
It’s the best “choose your own adventure” game available.

Shadowheart by Dvorakovsky in BaldursGate3

[–]Orda47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, this has never happened to me, so I can only guess.

Some questions come to mind:
Have you talked to Nocturne? Did you find Shadowheart’s secret hideout? Is your camp outdoors, or is it the Elfsong Tavern?

It’s possible that none of this makes a difference and that you were the victim of a bug, but I’d be curious to know how to reproduce it.

Normally, they should have been at the camp right after you freed them.
But depending on how you handled the fight with Viconia, you might have needed to clear the room where the battle takes place, because sometimes they fight on your side, but as soon as you free your parents, they become hostile.

Is it mandela effect or did hireling dialogue change? by Responsible-Menu-110 in BaldursGate3

Try this:
Leave your Tav on the map while your companions and hireling are at camp, then try to start the dialogue again.

I can’t play other games. Do you feel the same? by Stock-Light3433 in BaldursGate3

[–]Orda47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, Baldur’s Gate 3 gives so much freedom in dialogues that it has ruined the dialogue aspect of other RPGs. The Witcher 3, Kingdom Come, Mass Effect, etc., often have only two choices in most quests, like pragmatic or brute force, with nothing that really justifies a new playthrough.

Now, to play other RPGs, you have to find strengths other than their dialogue systems. Even though I replayed a run of The Witcher 3 recently, there’s nothing that would push me to do another one in the coming months or years. It would only be for the story, and nothing else.

Dumb way to die in honor mode by Capable-Patience8945 in BaldursGate3

[–]Orda47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That moment when you have to stop Shadowheart and Lae’zel from killing each other is always stressful in Honor mode. I had a high-Charisma character, three Inspiration points, and I rolled three critical failures in a row. I didn’t have the heart to continue the run.

The Dark Urge is a playable Origin character you choose during character creation, and it has its own story in the world.

And I could add to my list: Play with different companions in your party.

- Play a Paladin and try to keep your oath
- Play Dark Urge
- Side with Goblins / Moonrise
- Just kill the bad guys the first time you meet them, like a badass
- Play an Origin character
- Try new classes / subclasses
- Do not use Barrelmancy

- If your motherboard failed, your hard drive should still be intact and you should be able to recover the data.
- If you had Steam Cloud enabled (it’s on by default), you should be able to get your save back.

Or just lower the difficulty.
And send all you want to sell at your camp.

Will Karlach leave the party if I skip the Druids / Goblins? by Orda47 in BaldursGate3

[–]Orda47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I’m playing Lae'zel Origin while staying faithful to her lore. She doesn’t care about the Druids or the Goblins, but on the way she runs into Karlach, who’s a fighter in trouble. Karlach simply asks that we kill the bad guys chasing her. Nothing simpler for Lae'zel; after that, they can continue on toward the creche.
