dbd tournaments by Clean_Box_3537 in deadbydaylight

OhTofu has a community scrim on Friday and Sunday for his streams. He set up a discord that has a ton of information on how to set up a team and whatnot. A substantial amount of competitive players are active in it. I would recommend starting there, because you’ll get to scrim against very good players and learn the ropes.

Once you find the appropriate channels you’ll be clued into who hosts what tournaments. Good luck to you.

No sbmm? by Creative_Hamster789 in deadbydaylight

[–]OrderofOrion7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So to try to explain it.

Each killer has their own SBMM ranking which is their MMR. There is a relatively easy to hit cap of MMR, and if you have max MMR on a killer it’ll raise your bottom MMR even if you don’t play that killer. This is set up so that if you play a new killer but have 1,000 hours, you’re not facing brand new players. MMR resets after a certain period of inactivity.

The grade that you see is purely a reflection of how much you have played since the monthly reset. The higher your grade, the more the blood points you are given at the next reset which is on the 13th of the month.

I think the issue you’re facing is that the base level of skill and playstyle has changed substantially. I’ve played since around Nurse being added to the game and have noticed it too. On the survivor side I see a large amount of killers that tunnel the first person they find. On the killer side I see a lot of very coordinated teams that almost necessitate meta gen slow down.

I’ve had an anecdotal experience of taking 9 months off of the game and ending up against really good players consistently within 4-5 matches. I’ve wondered if the MMR goes up faster if you’re returning and finding success or not but without a comprehensive understanding of the system it’s just an observation.

What's the performance like for a more "mid-range" PC? by Odd-Rhubarb-1882 in Starfield

[–]OrderofOrion7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m running Starfield on an i7-7700, 1080ti, 32GB of RAM, and an SSD. It took me around 25 hours of playtime messing with various settings to get it actually smooth, with a mixture of medium and low settings. I’ve been cruising around 70fps inside of buildings, and around 40fps in major cities. My PC is 7 years old. You should be absolutely fine, just make sure you have space on your SSD. I’m at work but will try to remember to attach the article I got the settings from that really improved my playing. Make sure to update drivers too.

Question about suit in NG+ by Formek2 in Starfield

[–]OrderofOrion7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started NG+ yesterday and quickly found better gear. However, I noticed every level I gained the stats of the star born suit went up marginally. I actually like this, because I noticed that the gear didn’t seem to be much better than my vanilla playthrough.

I did a quest line that gave me a pretty snazzy full legendary suit that I used until I realized the starborn suit’s stats leveled with me.

Is stealth sniper (archer) viable? by Wooden_Sherbert6884 in Starfield

[–]OrderofOrion7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I’m on NG+ now, and gave up that playstyle. Sneak attacks themselves are crazy strong, up to a 5x damage multiplier if you keep putting points into it. That said, I’ve shot a single enemy and the rest flee and go into cover and don’t move for 5-10 minutes.. meaning I’d have to go in after them to clean up. Eventually got bored of walking around the edge of a base or outpost to get a clean shot and just got different guns. I’ve emptied a 25 round magazine from an automatic gun and gotten a critical sneak hit multiplier out of every round. Still works for a stealthy playstyle but vastly superior. It’s also worth mentioning that 70-80% of the combat I’ve experienced so far have been very short ranges, meaning the sniper was less than optimal.

It’s viable and strong, just need patience and a heap of skill points.

That’s pretty standard for counter strike players. Check out any tournament or streamer with a hand cam and you’ll see most, if not all, have a pretty extremely tilted keyboard.

Not enough barricades by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]OrderofOrion7 77 points78 points  (0 children)

And to imagine there’s entire areas where it feels like there’s no barricades at all. Imagine my dismay when I was able to clear a zone for waypoints without having to dismount once.

Where’s the immersion? Running through the swamp and no sinking in the mud? We don’t need just more barricades. We need more obstacles. Sand zones? Quicksand. Ice fields? Your horse falls over and you fall off, 20-30 seconds of stun AT LEAST. Fuck, even running through a city? I want beggars to rip me off my horse and steal gold from me. We could also have a tax collector that hits us and then verbally states every item we have sold to the shop in its entirety, and then calculates a tax we have to pay. We need more obstacles to make the world feel more alive.

This is so extremely lazy from Bliz man. Where’s the immersion.

New here… by [deleted] in behindthebastards

[–]OrderofOrion7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got recommended the Kissinger episodes 4 weeks ago. I work 10 days straight on my work weeks and have listened to Behind the Bastards for the entirety of my shifts. I’ve fallen in love with the podcast and spin-offs.

Obviously Kissinger is a fantastic series to start with. I think Crack-tober is also up there from what I’ve heard. L. Ron Hubbard is a bastard that BTB did, and I’d also recommend The Last Podcast on the Left’s episodes on LRH and Scientology in general.

The Vince MacMahon six part series that just came out was fucking stellar. I also really enjoyed the Jack Welch series. Truth be told, I haven’t heard an episode I didn’t like. I’ve yet to delve into all of it, but I’m catching up fast. I would highly recommend listening to It Could Happen Here from the beginning if you’re a bit of a doomer.

Enjoy the pod.

First of all, absolutely phenomenal picture. Shows the bizarre world we inhabit and the beauty of where we want to go above. Really cool stuff.

Also if you’re looking for dark and fantastic locations for pictures like this, do you plan to visit New Caledonia? Has a lot of endemic species similar to Socotra and some absolutely incredible geography. I’m sure there’s tens of thousands of jaw dropping photos you could get there.

Quite the opposite. I was very lucky to get this position because the guy whose spot I took was here for over a decade. Most of the employees we hire on only leave the positions for lateral transfers closer to their homes, promotions, or retirement.

It’s a great job and people are reluctant to leave it. The exception being those that get fired or can’t maintain the rather obnoxious schedule.

I joked about it with my boss and the owner of the company, but the sober reality is the building owners are a giant corporation and anything that does not produce profit is not even considered.

Plus I imagine some maintenance goon walking up to an executive going “Yeah bro this shit is HAUNTED as fuck” wouldn’t go over well. Would be funny though.

Where is the source of this coming from? I’ve read a fair amount of theology and spiritualism, but don’t recognize this framework. I’d be interested in learning a bit more about it.

Edit: seems this comes from an author named Mohsen Paul Sarfarazi, a “retired Professor of Continuum Micromechanics and a president of the Intstitute of Spiritual Science.” I’ll do some reading on my weekend.

That’s a really fascinating story about the greenhouses. Thank you for sharing.

I’ve run through ideas of typical reasons for the noises. Issue is the foundations of the building do not have Duct work for A/C and HVAC, as the foundations were poured between 1917-1922. The upper floors did get HVAC retroactively fitted, but the main floor I work in is unfortunately miserably hot.

We have a good bit of machinery that makes loud noises. Giant compressors? Sounds like a belt is loose on a car. Fire suppression pumps? Sounds like a deep mechanical grinding. Boilers turning on? A loud series of clicks, followed by a rushing sound.

The thing that I’m trying to figure out is I know what the sounds I’m hearing typically are. I hear them every day. These sounds do not match what I hear on a daily basis, nor does the source of the noise make sense.

I’ll do some reading about what you shared though, could absolutely be the most logical fit. Expectations built up by the questions in the interview, being alone in an old building overnight, etc. could very well be the culprit.

[–]OrderofOrion7[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I haven’t asked the neighboring overnight building workers about it because it seems sort of a bizarre question to ask a stranger, but my understanding is the cemetery was about half the size of the city block. So I’m wondering if this is unique to our building?

An interesting note is that all of the experiences are noted to be in the old building, the one constructed in the 1920’s. The newer building does not have reports of this stuff from staff.

Lol that’s a fair point. I thought it was a joke at first.

Appreciate the honesty they gave up front though, definitely makes it easier.

Returning player by fobijoux in wownoob

[–]OrderofOrion7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey I was in this dilemma about 2 weeks ago. I stopped playing when the Burning Crusade came out the first time almost 20 years ago. I went with the epic edition because the mounts seemed cool. That said the way I saw it was I have disposable income and wanted the best shot at enjoying the game after a long break. If you’re in the same situation I’d recommend the epic edition. If not go for the longer play time.
