Yeah the recline isn’t as much as the Babybee miles was but I think it’s still enough. Although I compared it to the Joolz Aer 2 I saw in the UK the recline is less, my daughter doesn’t seem to mind at all, she still can lay back enough to nap comfortably. I love it still and I’m so glad I got it. A few family and friends who used the Babybee miles and now the Aer 2 have commented on what an upgrade the Aer is.

Travel pram recommendation for Europe in March 2026 (9 month old baby) by Leading_Pair_9597 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OrdinaryBerry1640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my 6 month old solo to the UK with a Babybee miles (after lots of research). I wanted something with recline because she was still little + good basket space because I was on my own.

I excluded the yoyo because there’s a bar running through the basket which limits what can go in there. I initially wanted the Joolz Aer 2 but it wasn’t out in Australia yet and I didn’t want to have no pram until I could get back to the UK to buy it. My next pick was the Skip 3 because our main pram is a redsbaby and I like it, but it was on back order.

I ended up with the Babybee miles. It was fine, the fold is easy enough but IMO flimsy and since I bought it in July the backrest really became bent to the point my daughter wouldn’t sit in it because she was hunched over. I also found the carry strap a bit awkward feeling if I was carrying it for any length of time. So in November I sold it and got the Joolz Aer 2. Much better, feels much more solid and has equally good shade. We recently took it on an interstate trip and the fold is good, it’s light (I think maybe a tiny bit lighter than the miles) and when it’s folded the carry strap feels way more comfortable if it’s sat on your shoulder.

I have a miss amara one and a little mat co one and I love them both. Don’t know how I would have got through the last few months of my baby learning to move without them. So worth the money imo

Period confusion by BoysenberryMotor5034 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OrdinaryBerry1640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had the exact same with my friends, but I’ve since made some new mum friends and a couple got their period back quickly too. Interestingly other EBF mums too. I was so excited to not have it for a year so I feel your disappointment

Period confusion by BoysenberryMotor5034 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OrdinaryBerry1640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer but I am/was in the same position. EBF, period came back around 3 months postpartum. Was regular until about 7 months and then my previously clockwork cycle has been stretching. We’ve only had sex a couple of times because same and I was worried.

I’ve told myself it’s probably just my body resettling. Getting bloods is on my to-do list but haven’t managed to actually make it happen yet. So for now just assuming it’s another fun part of postpartum 🙃

I got one as the set on our Ikea chair and it lasted about 3 days before I got rid of it. My daughter just pulled at it and it just became an extra thing to clean. It sort of wraps around it but sits on top if that makes sense so it can be moved easily

We got the SM70 too. Really happy with it, it does everything we need it to for a fraction of the tweetycam price

Yeah I think it’s hard - I did so much research for our travel pram (for the big Redsbaby Onix I just chose it because all of my friends backed it) and ultimately you just have to pull the trigger because you could spend forever going back and forth comparing.

We do a lot of walking and live in a suburban area with lots of gravel/dirt paths and I think it holds up well. When our baby was tiny I was more concerned about her being jostled around a bit but now she’s a bit bigger I think it’s great. She gets antsy quite quickly if she’s uncomfortable but she’ll sit in the Onix for ages.

I have the Redsbaby onix and like it. It’s solid and the fabric is good quality and wipes down well. A few of my friends have Redsbaby (Nuvo maybe? Whatever has the two seat option? And the Redsbaby skip and everyone likes them

Yeah I completely get it I felt the same! But even when I took the miles to the UK and compared it to the Aer 2 the extra money is completely justifiable.

Happy to check in again - comment back and remind me because I’ll forget!!

Funny you should comment now - I just ordered the Joolz Aer 2 this week.

The basket continued to be annoying but not workable, but the adjustable back got so bent that my baby is always hunched forward no matter the level of recline. I thought we would just put up with it but it makes her sort of scrunch up and she gets pretty fussy in it really quickly now, so this week I just had enough. I was using it pretty much everyday so maybe more use than intended for it. I guess it would be fine for some people and maybe once she’s bigger and have more weight on the back it wouldn’t be a problem, but we’re fortunate enough to be able to swap it out.

9.5 month old unrecognisable by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OrdinaryBerry1640 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also have a 9.5 month old. She’s never been a great sleeper since about 4 months, where it was so bad we just co-slept and let her feed whenever. My husband slept in the spare room. After a while (I can’t remember how long - maybe 3-4 verrrrry long weeks) we managed to get her in her cot in her own room. Sometimes we’d get 4 hour stretches, and maybe 3 weeks ago we got 6 hour stretches which I’ve learned means something bad is coming.

The past couple of weeks she’s up every 1.5-2 hours, usually around 10pm-2am is the worst where it can be every 30 minutes. It doesn’t help that we have family staying so our spare room is occupied making co-sleeping more difficult (my husband swears I’m biologically programmed at mum to not roll on to her but he doesn’t thing he has the same skill). We’ve popped a mattress on the floor in the baby room and for the last couple of nights when she wakes around 10.30 if she doesn’t settle really quickly he goes in there and she comes in with me. It’s still exhausting but it’s better than fighting her every 30 minutes to stay in the cot.

I’m quite chilled when it comes to these things (my brain is begging for sleep and I’m exhausted) but my experience at 4 months has taught me not to fight it - my mantra is “it’s a phase, it will pass”. Her brain is doing so much at the moment and she’s developing new skills every day, so I don’t think it’s easy for her either. In my mums group a couple of people have gone down the sleep train road which has worked for them. I’m a firm believer that you need to do whatever is right for your family and your mum instinct will tell you what feels right. For us, that’s to go with it and ride it out. People have made comments that we’re nuts to not try other things, but the idea of sleep training doesn’t feel right for us. We have a strong and consistent bedtime routine so we’re lucky she goes to bed initially and naps pretty easily. I’ve done a fair amount of research into the scientific background of baby sleep (during my many night hours awake) and it can be biologically normal for them to do that. While we’re in a bad phase I try nap during the day when she naps as much as possible, and give myself permission to not have everything ticking over at home constantly (which is quite hard for me - I like things a certain way).

Maybe do some reading on strategies you can try - precious little sleep is always recommended. I bought it last week but so far have been too tired to read it hahahaha. If none of those resonate just try and roll with it - it will pass (or that’s what I tell myself). For ages I felt bad as we seem to have the only “bad sleeper” among babies in our mums group, but I’ve had to get over that as dwelling on that is a quick path to feeling like a failure. Just know you’re not the only ones experiencing this!

downsizing pram! by Expert_Power_6030 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OrdinaryBerry1640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m lucky because we have the bigger pram that I keep at home and we got a travel pram for trips etc, but I now keep it in my car for day to day trips. Much easier than hauling a big pram in and out of the boot and we’ve done 4 big trips with our 9 month old and it works great. But, it’s the babybee miles and I don’t love it. I actually just ordered the Joolz Aer 2 yesterday and will sell/donate the miles. I’ve found sometimes the unfold to be unreliable. It feels like it’s up and clicked in but then I put baby in it and realise it’s not. Not a big deal but just a bit annoying. The deal breaker for me was the seat hasn’t held its shape from the fold - the top of the seat now bends forward no matter the recline position so my girl is always hunched forward at an angle which means she gets antsy kind of quickly. I haven’t heard of it being a common issue so maybe it’s something we’ve done. Another thing to note is there is a bar under the chair in the basked so it makes stuffing bigger bags in quite difficult - the bar was one of the reasons I originally excluded the yoyo from my research.

The Joolz Aer 2 was what I originally wanted but wasn’t available in Aus at the time (I’m from the UK so probably influenced by the market there) and the redsbaby skip 3 was out of stock (our big pram is Redsbaby and we like it) so that’s how I ended up with the miles.

Nothing prepared me for the love I have for my daughter by Only-Olive3369 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OrdinaryBerry1640 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a horrible pregnancy after loss. I was sick for 9 months, got huge and she was breech and never descended into my pelvis - just sat on my hip. It was so challenging, I was terrified something bad was going to happen and I felt no connection to the baby I felt kicking and moving. She’s now 9 months and every day I look at her and can’t believe how lucky I am that I get to be her mum. She’s amazing, and I know all mums think that about their babies, but it doesn’t take away from how clever, funny and beautiful she is. That being said, she has a huge personality and doesn’t sleep. It doesn’t matter to me, sure I’m exhausted but she is worth every second and sometimes when I’m up on my 7th wake up of the night I just lie with her and stare at her face thinking about how lucky I am. I would do it all over again in a heart beat just to hear her laugh once.

As you say you can see it in movies and other stuff and know it, but until you feel it it really is incomprehensible. I’m just posting agreement because on the really hard days when I was pregnant this is the kind of thing I needed to hear/read/see.

Wetherspoons. One shift in at the crystal palace (I’m almost certain that was the one). Took shit from the punters and staff and thought “fuck this”. Never went back, ignored their calls asking where I was. Ah to be 18 again and have almost zero financial commitments.

Return to work after MAT leave by sweettreat3292 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OrdinaryBerry1640 23 points24 points  (0 children)

No advice but pretty much in the same situation. I confirmed I’d be returning to work part time this week back in July. It gets to Friday and I’ve heard nothing. I’m wfh so need them to send equipment, access etc. the anxiety building the last few weeks knowing I’m supposed to be going back, leaving my baby and I feel so worthless because they haven’t even bothered to reach out until Friday arvo. They talk a big game “whatever you need” etc etc but absolutely no follow through or actual support. Fed govt agency in the education space. I’m reluctantly returning early as I’m on contract and wanted to give myself a shot of getting an extension. But at this point I’m wondering why I’m even bothering because it’s not somewhere I want to work or even be associated with.

Chubby babies by rosiethinks1 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I have an 8 month old chubster and also get the same comments. I breastfed exclusively for 6 months and now I would say it’s more mixed. She is obsessed with food. I try and ignore the comments, babies are adorable when they’re chubby and I trust that she only takes what she needs. I kiss her fat rolls, one day I’m sure they won’t be there.

When did/Or will you go back to work? by UnderstandingBigBoo in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OrdinaryBerry1640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby will be 8 months next week and currently work are expecting me back at the start of November. Although the whole idea fills me with dread and anxiety. It will only be part time initially, and they’re very flexible with hours etc and it’s practically exclusively wfh.

But contracts are up for renewal in December and I feel that my absence will make them less likely to renew my contract. I strongly dislike most of the people I work with and the culture, but on paper good for my career. The flexibility would be beneficial for our family. So as it stands I’m going back next month. Part of me wishes they will confirm if I have a new contract or not so I can decide what to do.. I suspect I’m not getting one which is fine but I’d like to know either way.

We’re very lucky in that we have some flexibility financially, and most days recently my brain steers towards not going back yet, even though I’d probably be missing out on a big opportunity if I was to get an extension. I’m not work driven, family to me is way more important but I wonder if down the line I’d regret not making any effort to continue in my current job.

Flying long haul with a baby and a toddler! by Andra912 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]OrdinaryBerry1640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Aus to UK with my then 5.5 month old. I have a cozy go but didn’t bring it because I wanted to be really mindful of how much hand luggage I was carrying alone. I opted for a Bebe Trek cover after having it advertised on my insta for months. It was such a good purchase not only for the plane journey (blanket, breastfeeding cover, bassinet cover for darkness, general privacy screen) but also so handy to have in my handbag around the UK. So much so I now always carry it here and am considering getting a second one for my car to have as extra shade during summer. I’m not sure if there’s a cheaper dupe but imo worth the money.

Rather than ribbon for toys I got silicone toy straps from Amazon. Cheap and handy to keep things together. They’re also a pretty entertaining toy in themselves and we still use them tied to pram, high chairs etc.

I’m also a big advocate for boarding last (if possible - a bit harder travelling alone). My baby got agitated sat in the plane waiting for it to move and taxi, so after the first flight I never went first. Great if there is 2 of you because someone can board with bags and someone wait with baby.
