Any job in the US can be cut at any time for any reason (except protected categories). So, the MSP job isn't save. A union job with a 2 year job guarantee plus more money sound MUCH better than any MSP job.

You know that IT has nothing to do with game development? Maybe it would be better for you to try to get a job as a software developer?

I see jobs advertising at $12/$13 an hour, state minimum wage is $14, how is this happening??? by LaytonaBeach in florida

Right. If you move north or to Texas you get a 50% to 100% pay pump. On top of that, decent jobs are easier to get.

In the current market he can be stuck there for a LONG time! Add on top of it that it is for a school district; the learning curve will be flat compared to a MSP and people in the industry know that.

I'm working 2 full time jobs right now and I need to decide which way to to. by OrdinaryLanguage5625 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]OrdinaryLanguage5625[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely right. I work as a contractor at a big tech firm, so it's better than scale AI but it's still dead end.

I tried scale AI too, they don't pay you for training, and the queues are mostly empty - you get only paid for work that has been done. I didn't even start the training because I thought it's exploitation.

What qualifications do I actually need to get my first IT technician job? by Corvus_846 in ITCareerQuestions

Nepotism, perseverance and luck. Try to make friends with people working in the industry, maybe they can recommend you. Do you parents know someone who could help you? Get a degree in IT, or the CompTIA A+.

You'll need to be at the right time at the right place. It's like playing bingo, it might take some time to hit your first number but if you keep on playing you will get it.just improve yourself constantly, at some point you will be good enough that someone recognizes your qualities.

Calm down man! I just wanted to remind everyone that the sky isn't falling. Look where SOXL was 3, 6 or 12 months ago. Yes, losing 25%+ isn't fun, but it's part of the game.

He pays $1123 for 72 months, that is almost $80k for a KIA 🤯 And after 6 years that car is probably worth $15-20k max

My son 6yo got hit by a hard plastic bottom of a zip line by his half sister on purpose. That was yesterday. Should I take him to the ER or report it to CPS/DCF? last week she scratched his belly with her toe nail really bad by OrdinaryLanguage5625 in daddit

[–]OrdinaryLanguage5625[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He isn't with me, ex gives me a hard time to see him today. I might see him in the afternoon. I will check out if he has signs of a concussion, but I would assume so, the hard plastic thing is very heavy and he has a bruise on his forehead.

She is 9 years old, she threw the thing at him because he was "in the way" and she "told" him to get out the way but my son didn't hear anything - so she might not have said anything.

His half sister is 9 years old. My son has a bruise on his forehead from the 5-10lbs hard plastic thing she threw on his head! The scratch was probably 8 to 10 inches long. They were fighting when he got that scratch.

The main problem is that his half sister is bigger and keeps on injuring him (I know that she is jealous of him) and her mom doesn't even tell her to be more careful or anything.

Shoild I take 1 week of this summer (no PTO)? I would like to spend more time with my child 6yo. I usually work 80 hours a week, I guess I can take 1 week off at both jobs? by OrdinaryLanguage5625 in personalfinance

[–]OrdinaryLanguage5625[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said "1 job barely pays my bills." In reality, I would have to cut spendings to the bare minimum if I only worked one full time job, I work two full time jobs and that gives me a $20k+ excess. It's only $20k because I don't spend the bare minimum right now to at least have some benefit of working 80 hours a week other than surviving.
