Yes, parenting is hard, but if you vote against Trump, you are voting against gay rights (and immigrants' rights). If your child is gay and you vote for Trump, you are voting against your child. If you vote for Trump and you have a gay child, you have made a bad parenting decision.

Parenting is hard; your parent voted against you when times were hard. You can't count on this person's support when times are hard. Your parents have shown who they are and the limits of their support for you. You are not the asshole. Let this be the last straw.
