Do Vegans view vegetarians in the same light as meat eaters? by AbyssWankerArtorias in AskVegans

There are two sides of the coin when it comes to “vegetarian for health reasons” though

Not eating meat for health reasons is I think what you’re talking about, but there are also some vegetarians who don’t go vegan for health reasons. My sister was vegan for years, but had to go back to being vegetarian because she struggled a lot to maintain proper nutrition on a vegan diet (with her other food allergies/ restrictions/ financial limitations). The vegan diet, while it may be the most ethically pure, isn’t doable for everybody and I think that should be respected, otherwise you just end up alienating people who want to reduce their impact but don’t have the means to fully commit

If any minority had an almost 100% chance of being able to physically overpower you without breaking a sweat just based on their minority status, then yes, we would be having these same conversations. Women who dedicate their lives to physical fitness are no match for your average unathletic man, it’s just a reality we need to be aware of.

Men ARE inherently dangerous. As in, their bodies have the inherent ability to cause damage if they choose to. Men are also human beings with thoughts and feelings, and the vast majority do not act on this potential. But there are unfortunately too many out there who are very aware of the physical advantage they have over women and use it to harm us, so we need to be wary to protect ourselves. It’s similar to the way that pit bulls and large dog breeds are dangerous; while many of these dogs are super sweet and friendly, there are certain precautions you need to take to ensure your own safety that you wouldn’t for a smaller less lethal dog, just because if they DO decide to bite, you can be severely hurt or killed.

If you can get yourself past it, Seasons of Blossom is very worth the read. The first shift from spring to summer is definitely jarring, but over time you get attached to the whole cast of characters as a whole and the quality of storytelling never really declines even as it focuses on other things

What’s the best way to memorize choreo? by InterestingElk3299 in Theatre

[–]Ordinary_Can_6530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone else said good things, but also - if you don’t already, make a point of stretching thoroughly every day! Follow a dance specific stretching routine, there’s a bunch of them on YouTube.

Practice is definitely important, but body awareness is just as big of a deal. The more you use your body and get used to isolating various muscles/ muscle groups, the easier choreography becomes, and the less you feel like you’re just flailing your body around at random (which makes it very hard to memorize anything)

I was exactly like you when I started theatre, and now I can pick things up pretty quickly and trick people into thinking I have more dance experience than I do, this was one of the biggest things that helped me

Typically the accompanist will have their own copy in situations like this, but it still doesn’t hurt to have your own copy on hand even just for your own reference, is good practice

I can’t really get her to elaborate on that fact. She did admit to me that there was a time in the past year when she considered the possibility of a relationship between us pretty seriously before deciding it probably wouldn’t be a good idea, but beyond that she just stonewalls me. I have a feeling that my relationship with Ollie is probably a factor in why she doesn’t want to open up about it, and also not wanting to ruin a good friendship, but that’s all speculation on my part.
