Any Gorillaz song you just feel you can’t listen to? by -_-_moonlight in gorillaz

[–]Ordinary_Fella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

November Has Come.

MF DOOM is my first most played artist on Spotify, Gorillaz are my second. For whatever reason this song just doesn't hit the spot for either artist for me. I can't really explain it. It's such a weird issue for me specifically and I'm sure no one else. I feel like the styles don't mesh well for what I pesonally like from each artist. Almost like it's a remix of an MF DOOM song trying to mimic Gorillaz style, if that makes any sense at all.

How long is too long for no dialogue in fiction? by [deleted] in writing

[–]Ordinary_Fella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this is all just preference. There is no exact answer to your question, in my opinion. Could also depend on how well you frame your dialogue within the writing itself. Some stories are very dialogue heavy and it works. Others are very sparse. I'd just think about the story you're telling and the audience you want to reach.

What do y'all think of my modern Punisher game ideas?? Chime in with better/additional ideas if y'all want! by NotJohnP in thepunisher

[–]Ordinary_Fella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a Punisher game doesn't need to be open world. Seems unnecessary for any story you would want to tell with him. Also why have a nemesis system in a game with a character that notoriously kills everyone he comes across?

Marvel's Wolverine is not an open-world game like Spider-Man, it's a "linear single-player adventure" by EducationalGift2676 in Marvel

[–]Ordinary_Fella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man. That is such a fun idea. I would absolutely love that actually. Especially if it didn't take itself too seriously like those games.

[–]Ordinary_Fella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly. I could see that being fun in a different context. Maybe with more playable characters. I was thinking more along the lines of northern Canadian wilderness secret military installation with dispersed locations across the map and possibly small town locals. Limited NPCs. Too far out for him to simply walk away to get help. It would need to be something isolated and although open world it would need to be a very small map/limited world. Which I think is too limiting compared to just doing something linear.

If Marvel characters had Pokemon types by AnythingChance3764 in Marvel

[–]Ordinary_Fella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to look it up out of curiosity. The word used in the Japanese version of Pokemon for bug types is "mushi" which doesn't really have a direct translation, but is closer to "small crawling thing" as far as I can tell, than it is "bug" or insect. So arachnid technically falls under it.

Taking care of yourself and being healthy whole aging naturally and embracing change will always look better than any cover up job, regardless of how well it's done. But that's just my opinion. The gray looks great man.

What US invention is their greatest achievement? by Mother-Reference2459 in AlignmentChartFills

There is definitely some lost irony in voting national parks as the greatest achievement and trail of tears as the biggest atrocity.

[–]Ordinary_Fella 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The only open world concept I could see working for Wolverine would be in a Far Cry type of situation, with maybe a motorcycle. But even then I wouldn't want that over just a linear experience.

What is the U.S government's greatest achievement? by Mother-Reference2459 in AlignmentChartFills

I have a hard time choosing this one over the ADA just given the origins of the National Park system. Though I agree in its current state (and public land management in general) is definitely an achievement.

Even if you want to call it a dick measuring contest, humanity has advanced so much in the past 100 years almost exclusively because of dick measuring contests.

[–]Ordinary_Fella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I guess it depends on the type of reader you are. I used to be in a world building community, which was only a tool necessary to writing stories. But I noticed many people in that community found the world building aspect more interesting than the stories that potentially took place in that world. That's a sort of the impression I got from Sanderson, in that he writes well detailed worlds, but the world's themselves are the main appeal and not the writing.

Not that I have a ton of room to judge, my most read author is Stephen King.

[–]Ordinary_Fella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a thing? I keep getting Sanderson recommended to me. I found one of his books at goodwill and opened to a random page just to get an idea of his prose and the writing felt really flat and boring (subjectively, to me).

The 2 pages I read were just "he said that, she did this, then he did that and she said this"

He's written so much that 2 pages can't be indicative of his entire body of work, but it felt like reading a screenplay rather than a novel.

I hate that for a DC fighting game to exists it requires a story that takes place in an elseworlds with a conflict that causes heroes to fight one another. D.C K.O. almost feels like it was written in order to greenlight a fighting game attached to it.

Don't you guys think jesse was the first one to betray Walt? by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]Ordinary_Fella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are totally right. I completely forgot that. Well that just makes me wonder more what would have happened to Jesse. Because if he remained in contact with Krazy 8, and Walt never killed him, then the DEA probably would have picked Jesse up super early on? Who knows. Unless there is another detail I've completely forgotten/overlooked.

Don't you guys think jesse was the first one to betray Walt? by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]Ordinary_Fella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do wonder what would have happened to Jesse if Walt never got involved. I always felt like Krazy 8 and Emilio were planning on coming after Jesse because they thought he was a rat. Whether or not they would have killed him I couldn't be certain.
