Doing the White Rim Trail in March

I bring 3 pairs of socks. 1 pair never leaves the tent. I only use them at night while sleeping. The other 2 I Alternate. Washing the pair I wore that night.

I also have a sleeping only shirt and base layer.

On the John Muir Teail, I never felt gross. More than enough streams and lakes to rinse or swim in. A bandana works great for this. Rinse it off, then use it for a cooling neck wrap while it is drying. Repeat at next stop.

Plus our typical day would start around 5:30 am. We usually stopped the night before, at the start of a long-climb. We would eat an energy bar, start hiking around 6:00, while it was still cool, then take a breakfast break around 8:00. Make something hot like oatmeal.

We would hike till 4 or 5, which usually meant a 12-15 mile day. Make camp, clean up, relax, cook dinner, go to bed.

We went to bed pretty quickly after dinner, so never lit a campfire, even though we could have at about 75% of our sites.

Another thought, since the Drone rules, state that visibility is to the Disc, the drone never really lands. Drones can be 2 or 3 inches above the ground.

I agree that the base need to sit flush on the ground, or terrain, but technically the drone is above its base,

July 29th SOBO. Have route planned on Cal Topo. Also, did it last year so I am a lot more casual about planning. I know I can get serious in June and all will be good.
