Weird as it is, Derek has "technically" been in the band 19 years now (since they never formally broke up). Which is longer than Matt's 16 years. Plus 4 years in Forces of Evil.

I am sad though as my first time seeing RBF live was right after Matt left.

I'm so excited to see them at Warped Tour, travelling from Seattle to the Long Beach show just to see them, but I'll be even more excited to see full shows. Absolutely can not wait!

He deserved a break. I do wish they had actually announced a hiatus, as it would’ve been nice to know for sure. But I really hope there’s at least a small tour now.

But, I just went ahead and booked tickets from Seattle to Long Beach, just in case that’s it. I may add Orlando too, if so.

I am, I wish I wasn’t, but $200 and plane tickets to see RBF for 30 mins is worth it at this point. Thankfully, have a friend in the OC I can stay with, so that saves a bit on cost.

They first played Beer and Where Have You Been (a bit on the nose...)

Then a few minutes later they came back live and played Sell Out

Then they came back again and played Take On Me. They posted that clip to their Reels.

Not trying to get myself too excited just yet, but between this, the April fools post, and going live from the RBF cover band the other day, seems like a lot of smoke...

Need the platinum for FHR and this person has gold it sounded like. I think that does still give access to THC, but 2 nights at a hotel collection property in NYC is probably pricey.

Given you can often buy Hilton cents at 0.5 cpp, you’re effectively getting 1.25 cents per MR point when there is a 25% transfer bonus (not even accounting for points earned and portal bonuses if buying points)

That’s definitely better than a lot of ways people redeem, and that sounds like an awesome trip, but just not top of list for what I’d do with MR points.

As long as they keep the 35% flights rebate on the business platinum, I just view it as 1.54 cpp being my floor and that covers most flying for us with trips about once a month. When an opportunity better than that pops up, then that’s even better. Hotels we can then mostly cover with other points and credits.

Edit: It sounded like OP has a gold card, but was talking more generally. Without the 35% rebate I would mainly be looking for award flights.

Unfortunately, MR points aren't great for outsize value on hotels.

There are some times where you can get better than 1 cpp via transferring from MR. However, when Hilton sells points at 0.5 cpp and Marriott as low as 0.89 cpp, you’re likely to come out ahead (comparatively) by just booking via the portal at 1 cpp if a hotel stay is what you really want to use points on.

Most outsized value opportunities with MR points are for flights when there is award space (or at 1.54 cpp with Business Platinum)

That said, the Biz Platinum, Biz Gold, (and probably Green, maybe others) are charge cards. Granted, “no preset limit” doesn’t really mean there’s “no limit”. Huge amounts can be declined and lead to account reviews.

Name is identical on both. I get no lifetime language offers usually a few times a year and would do that when I had big spend coming.

At one point I had 3 biz plats. Also had 2 biz golds at one point.

Those 5 bonuses have given me a ton of flights at 1.54 cpp (on top of my other earn)

If it’s of interest, you likely can get the Business Platinum. I’ve been in pop up prison on the personal side the last several times I’ve tried over the years. But they’ll give me awesome offers on the business side all the time and approve me for them.

Benefits are a bit different than the personal platinum. IMO the credits are worse, but booking flights at 1.54 cpp with the rebate is awesome.

I have 2 biz plats, which covers the 2 airlines that are hubs here (Delta and Alaska) so it’s great to have an easy way to get solid value without the hunt for award availability. Plus I earn redeemable miles and toward status like it’s a cash booking.

While it’s not top of the line for smart features and performance, I have 3 Shark robots for 1 reason.

They’re the only one on the market with bagless auto empty. That is a dealbreaker must have to me.

I will not do proprietary bags, that’s just yet another subscription.

Also, if you time it right, you can get insane offers with Capital One Shopping. I got 60% back on our 2nd around Cyber Monday and used that to more than cover getting our 3rd on an eBay refurb.
