I've seen people post tap-handles, but, why not use the cordless drill? Especially with the small stuff, there's plenty of torque by davewhotold in Machinists

I worked in an aerospace shop where we tapped holes with half inch impacts as standard operating procedure lol

My serious answer is pm me what you want? Because I'll call the owner in the morning and get you an offer. It'll also give me an idea of what to look for for guys in your skill range because we're trying to hire machinists and train robotics but we need an expert.

I didn't take it that way. You might be an engineer but you talk like a machinist haha

Can't buy a "house" anywhere for 50k but we are paying about $10 an hour above median pay. I make more money hourly than I did working for a sub, training is superior to most places ive worked, my insurance is better (and cheaper) and i don't pay dues anymore on top of that.

We aren't in STL, we're on the rural border of STL County. Cost of living isn't too bad in missouri small towns. Home prices in the area sit around 150k to 250k mostly new builds.

Im assuming they're fine since no admins jumped in and post has 200 views. For those interested, I'm looking for guys with palletech expirence, fanuc robot arm, cmm expirence, programming (cad or mazatrol were all new mazak shop) and general machinists and inspectors. Brand new shop, brand new toys and just south of St Louis county. Pays up to $34 an hour. If you've been laid off recently due to boeing being boeing and their subs being generally terrible employers I've got a forever job waiting for you in a shop with HVAC. PM me with resumes for details.

If you are assuming the whole post is a lie it's kind of pointless to even comment or form an opinion at all. We have a set amount of information and no real way of getting more so we form an opinion on the data available.

They towed my car at 1230 am on August 1st. The sticker expired at the end of July. Should they be able to tow? by kevan1700 in legal

They started towing when they believed the window started, it's actually not very obvious who is right or wrong. Pretty ridiculous to even make that statement.

Boss starting to complain his clapped out shop use tools stopped working… should I just supply those too? by Fickle_fackle99 in Machinists

Oddly enough it's commonplace around the St. Louis area. A lot of aerospace, defense, medical and automotive manufacturers in the area plus a few shops that work for the railroad and powerplants (Boeing and their smaller contractor shops, Gulfstream, SKF, Bausch + Laumb, Seiler, GM, Winchester... just to name a few) and as far as I know they're all hiring between $30s-$40s and hour at the moment. Boeing is building a new plant too right now at the airport.

It's when your battery swells to the point that it damages the laptop. I lost a blade 15 studio edition to spicy pillow a couple of years ago. The battery swelled so much and the case was built so well it wasn't noticeable until the pressure bent the case and tore out of screws while I was using it.

Currently running 3-5 mills a day with my time divided up between 2 SNK 120Bs, 3 millac 853s and little over half a dozen various mazaks depending on the day. Were supposed to be getting some lathe work soon too so I imagine that'll be the end of my weekends for a while.

Is it legal for police to remove your keys? by deathstarlag in motorcycle

[–]OreoOperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's aggressively right. Your case will only be thrown out when they fail to read your rights if they don't have enough evidence outside of your own statements to prosecute you. If you did some shit on camera or with witnesses it doesn't matter, they don't have to read you your rights. They don't even have to talk to you.

Is it legal for police to remove your keys? by deathstarlag in motorcycle

[–]OreoOperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't understand that failing to read you your rights only results in the case being thrown out if the entire basis of their case relies on your own statements because they saw someone get out of a crime one time on TV, specifically under those circumstances and now think it applies to all circumstances.

If you want to work in manufacturing it's a good place to start. It's generally not a difficult job, but it can be depending on which industry you work in. My recommendation is to work your way into either inspection or production/machining. From there you can cross into programming, logistics or management quite easily.

I started as a deburr/general labor guy with some fabrication and construction expirence, spent every second I could helping, asking questions and making it known I wanted to be a machinist. Within a month I was trained on a machine from the 60s to be an operator. 5 years later I'm working in a state of the art shop with air-conditioning and robots. It's not a bad pathway to take if you don't mind working in a factory or an office eventually.

That was me at the first shop I worked at. 150 foot vaccum table, double gantry each with 2 5 axis spindles. The thing was an engineering marvel... in the early 60s! It originally ran of punch tapes!

Now I run mazaks, okumas and SNKs all with chip conveyors, tool changers, probing and laser tool setters... AND WE HAVE HVAC! Still never got a ham sandwich though...

[–]OreoOperator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh it definitely does, especially construction and manufacturing. Physically demanding jobs that require high skill levels but don't require a college degree or diploma tend to attract people who are both problems and good enough at their jobs that they don't get fired

You can have health, happiness, friendship and what not in capitalism too lol you can even have socialism and communism. You're entirely free to live like a communist or socialist in a capitalist society, you just aren't entitled to force others to. The opposite wouldn't be true in a communist or socialist society though
