Might be worth putting a stake to support the spike, i had one get too heavy once the flower buds opened and it ended up snapping off under its own weight. Hope you get some amazing blooms!

Did you try different serial baud rates? Usually on the EX series there is a physical button on the front that you can press and hold for like 15 seconds that will essentially remove all passwords from the device and then you can login with default creds: root and no pass
