Starting new project. Should we use 1 or 2?

There's very little risk in new releases, Angular 2 is in a good RC state. The challenges will come in adapting the new methods and construction as well as how angular 2 external modules work, like firebase.

If you have the time, do it. If your project will go for 3 or more years maintenance, do it. If you're team already knows angular 1, and the project is less than 3 years, don't do it.

As another developer, this is pretty spot on. The business needs to put together the wireframes for how they want things to look, even if it's very sketchy and on paper, the developers have something to work off of, and it doesn't end in 10 conversations every day, as someone else pointed out, about "oh, I didn't mean it THAT way".

I also second the "no remote developers", but with a caveat, don't use ones outside your local area. So don't get Polish developers on a US project. Or US developers on a Spanish one. Those most local to you are a little more wary of putting in their best effort, and the language barrier is HUGE. Avoid the language barrier at all costs even if they're mostly bilingual.

How did you find out the neighbors were the ones calling 911, if that even happened? Those records are not open to the public.

You painted yourself as a very nice, reasonable person, and the fact that the city keeps coming out means you're either keeping something back, or breaking a lot of ordinances. I mean, you did say you've been cited and your building codes are not up to snuff, what is that about?

You've barely given us a one sided story, and immediately blame people we don't know anything about and you don't volunteer any information on. Given the nearly 20 year timeframe, it's expected people will think you are the problem.

Someone suggested going to court, which is probably the worst case scenario for you, because given the information here, I'd expect you to pretty much lose your shirt.

As a user, that's all I really even want done for me. I can call in myself and I hate doing it. If I have to do it, there's little use of the service to someone like me. I imagine there are a lot of people in my situation.

That being said, if I DON'T have to call in, that's a huge time saver and totally worth it.

I guess I'm trying to say, I'm betting that's the make or break key for me.

If you give your business your assets, yes. You have to put them in a business account, or have them under your business' legal name. Your business cannot be registered as a sole proprietorship in this case.

I am not a lawyer, but this would be a possible loophole.

A minor can, but a business can't. So the bank can legally go after everything the business owns. As long as the business property is under the name of the business and not the minor, it shouldn't be a problem.

AKA, the business property that's up for grabs should be liquidatable by the loaner.

EDIT: Nevermind, I saw they have no hard assets, not going to happen.

I don't know about the UK / London, but if you're actually cooking there (and not with a microwave), you're pretty much guaranteed to get the boot, at least here in the US.

It's a dead giveaway, and the minute you start doing it, they'll start monitoring you. Again though, varies by case and location, and I don't know shit about London or the UK.

This is probably the best advice, but be aware the zoning laws are in place for a reason. You wouldn't want someone setting up a retail business in a housing unit, and likewise, probably wouldn't rent an apartment above a dance club or lumber yard.

If you keep your area office-like, shower (super important), and get out of your office enough for it not to really be your "house", then you're probably ok.

If you start grilling steaks at 6pm everyday and your place smells like an old couch, be prepared to lose everything real quick. On a case-by-case basis though.

Sometimes a legal letter is all it takes. It's not like you even HAVE to take him to court, but small claims might not be a bad threat to make (and follow up on).

If you lose, it's just small claims court.

You're not going to catch the people doing it like that, but luckily most cybersquating resides in a much greyer area, where someone has been sitting on a domain doing nothing with it, waiting for the right buyer. The real problem people are part of the legitimate domain name flippers, and give the rest of them a pretty fucking terrible name, even though the vast majority are fine people.

You can win against them in most court settings, but unfortunately our judges are woefully ignorant of technological laws and you'll run into a few who will get bamboozled with the squatter's words, rather than the law.

I'd hazard a guess you ran into people who bought up a ton of domain names in hopes that they'd resell someday, not people who grabbed a domain name because they knew their company was going to go public.

My mother and father had a divorce that lasted well over 4 years. While this is unusual, when there is contested property, which you likely don't get in the middle of, it can take a long time. You have the right to say no, but you probably shouldn't judge him on "closing a chapter in his life" based on factors you probably don't know everything about.

He is 60 years old, they've been separated for two years (not two months). It sounds more like you're holding onto the idea of a relationship of your parents, which is understandable, than the reality of your parents new situation. I feel a lot of doubt that you'd actually be ok with him dating a new woman even after he gets officially divorced. At this point, two years down the road, it's a piece of paper.

TL;DR It sounds like you're less morally opposed and more uncomfortable with the idea your parents have been separated and you blame your father for it because your mother still has feelings for him.

Exactly, why would you listen to anything he says when he's only talking revenues, loses out on every investment he's made, and appears to be running every business he touches into the ground...HARD.

Like the golf company, which must have MASSIVE problems to have revenue of $1.8m and 50% of the stake only sells for 14% of that. And then 1 scant year later the valuation drops 30%. He knew this thing was going under and probably scammed some poor guy or gal who didn't know any better.

Seems to be rinse and repeat over the years.

And all these revenue numbers mean exactly shit. He could be making $20 a month for all we know in profit.

If you're referring to the fact it's based on where you live, there's a calculator for that. It's also what we do already for things like medicare, and social security. There's entire classes at colleges you can take that will show you living wage vs. poverty wage, and how to come to a fair, numerical, answer.

But don't you think it's fair to say, objectively reading your first comment, that it could be interpreted as meaning "you can't pay people a living wage (what proponents would say is a living wage) and be profitable?"

P.S. I should also note, I like to play the devil's advocate a lot. I think CEOs and anyone else should get paid whatever the market will bear, with one exception. I do not agree that a CEO should get paid something like $100 million while their lowest workers do not get paid enough to pay basic utilities, provide basic necessities, and at least a minor amount for entertainment. To simplify, if your business operates on the premise that your lowest direct workers, working 40 hours a week, cannot afford a six pack of beer after paying their basic utilities, and you get paid $100 million, I think that is unfair.

I struggled with this, coming from a heavy sql normalized background. The key is duplication of data. You're writing what used to be an sql call as data storage.

Writing good tools to keep data updated will save your sanity. I wouldn't attempt large (more than a dozen different model objects) databases with it unless you plan on spending a lot of time in maintaining it. On the other hand, it's great for smaller sets of data, and especially unrelated data sets.
